PYROCUMULUS
"Pyrocumulus" (8-23-16 010) was taken yesterday on the way back from my weekly ocean overlook walk. Just in case you don't know, this is not a regular cumulus cloud. But as its name indicates is the result of fire, the Rey fire. Right now our area is surrounded in three directions by wild fires. The Rey being the closest. The pyrocumulus cloud from it a couple of days ago, viewable all too clearly from our retirement community's dining room windows, was a great deal bigger and scarier than this one. But it, too, had the same sort of eerie beauty.
