NIGHTTIME OF THE CANNAS

"Nighttime of the Cannas" (5-13-18 010v2) was just now morphed from a very new pic of mine of that stand of cannas I posted a more realistic pic of here a couple days ago. This stand never fails to engage my interest, and my camera. There's actually a multitude of cannas growing around Goleta/Isla Vista. But none (even in less healthy looking years) is as full or has such gorgeous, mostly brightly colored red leaves. The blossoms on this stand are lovely, but honestly I'm enamored of the leaves and unopened, budded stems. They set my imagination popping, as I enjoy their brilliantly colored beauty. Maybe some day I'll make the effort to either set up my new compact camera or read the (endless) manual for a high-end loaner camera I have, and see what sort of realistic pix I can get with either of them. But in the meantime, just looking at these cannas and figuring out angles and composition, etc., to try with my old, glitchy wide angle lens camera, is a great joy. Yeah, much of the time I value looking at what I'm hoping to capture a decent pic of as much (and sometimes even more) than any resultant photo of anything, not just these leaves. If you'd like to see another pic of mine of these cannas (kinda, sorta realistic) just click here, and then click directly on the image for a larger version.

NOTE: In most browsers you can click on a photo to view a larger version. There are many more photos posted here than show at any given time on scrolling down. See the Archives listing in the right hand column (below “Previous Posts”). And here’s the link if you wish to read an Introduction, Background, & Technical Aspects post about this blog.
