THE PIANIST

The Pianist is an almost three year old photo, just re-worked this morning. I'm really enjoying experimenting with some of the new functions I've found in photoshop. Especially having just filled my poor brain with the pictures in a book of "modern" art paintings.

One further comment: whenever I find these overly bright and sometimes almost neon colors showing up on the screen, my over-riding tendency is to soften them. My thinking being that they are so obviously the result of computer manipulation. Well! It just hit me today that, hey, the computer is the tool I'm using. Why feel so apologetic? Why not go with that color intensity, stop trying to make the results look like something else, and see where they lead, in and of themselves? So "The Pianist" is my first deliberate leaving alone of colors I would have usually changed or at least softened. I think they could grow on me.

NOTE: In most browsers you can click on a photo to view a larger version. There are many more photos posted here than show at any given time in this left-hand column. See the Archives listing (below Previous Posts) in the right hand column. And here’s the link if you wish to read an Introduction, Background, & Technical Aspects post about this blog.
