FACING THE FUTURE

Facing the Future (8-25-13) is another of those self-portraits I worked on a few weeks back. I really like that line drawing effect and could not now, for the life of me, tell you what combination of photoshop filters ultimately produced it. Even as I posted those earlier self-portraits I felt as if I should somehow explain why I'd made them. I took them hoping to get a better picture for my blog bio, but why I then fussed with them remains in question. I've decided that beyond a sort of interest in how I look in pix and where I could go with that, it's rather a moot point to address. I.e., at least for me, there's a level at which all my artistic efforts (poetry, photos, etc.) are self-portraits. In that they are my perceptions and imaginings, and the work of my peculiar skill and talent sets, impacted by my medium of choice. How's that for an attempt at a non-defensive defense of my self-portraits? (:-D) Hey, at least I'm not too vain -- I'm posting a picture version that added an awful lot of wrinkles that aren't even here yet (though will be soon enough).

NOTE: In most browsers you can click on a photo to view a larger version. There are many more photos posted here than show at any given time in this left-hand column. See the Archives listing (below Previous Posts) in the right hand column. And here’s the link if you wish to read an Introduction, Background, & Technical Aspects post about this blog.
