STANDING TALL

I've had this photo hanging around for years. There's always been something I liked about it, even if its composition is a bit messy and there was distracting "schmutz" in the background that needed to be painted out. So there it sat until this morning. And as I started painting out the messy spots, the title popped up, Standing Tall (9-18-10 10002e). These little orchids grow in this same spot every year. They're always difficult to get good shots of (in the shade of a tree with lots of other flora around in various states of array and disarray). Not to mention that I can't clamber in close to shoot them from behind. But I try every season. Maybe that's why I like this one. It comes close to being a good "portrait" of a stem of these sweet little orchids. Well, then there's all those curved lines, all "standing tall." I like, those, too.
