THE OLD STAG

Before going on to today's pic, let me apologize for yesterday's photomorph. It fits in the category I call "What the hell was I thinking when I posted that one?" Not much apparently. :-) Now, to "The Old Stag" (1-18-18 001v6) above: it was fudged very recently from a new pic. I have taken many other shots over the months of this tree, some of them closer in or even further away. It's a challenge in many different ways to get a pic of this gorgeous old, twisty tree, that turns out to be what I saw when snapping the pic. Of course, that's really always the challenge I face. Only sometimes it's a greater challenge than others. This pic comes very close to what I saw/felt when standing there, trying to figure out which angle would produce the best shot(s). The biggest part of the challenge is, honestly, the time of day I'm taking pix. The sun is always in the wrong place and/or way too bright. And not being a tech-head (the camera manual instructions for white balance, and such, fall right out of this right-brain dominated mind) I do a lot of flying by the seat of my pants while crossing my fingers. (Now there's an image for you! LOL.)

NOTE: In most browsers you can click on a photo to view a larger version. There are many more photos posted here than show at any given time on scrolling down. See the Archives listing in the right hand column (below “Previous Posts”). And here’s the link if you wish to read an Introduction, Background, & Technical Aspects post about this blog.
