SEASON OF THE SAMURAI

"Season of the Samurai" is from a very small section of a recently taken photo, in which all I actually wound up changing was its colors. In a way as I cropped and re-cropped this picture, I felt like a warrior refusing to give up the fight to find something I liked. And the way life seems to be for me these days I could really use some samurai courage just to get through and maintain some dignity. Believe it or not, the original full picture is of a crowded top shelf in my living room. (I'd been taking pix of my space to share with an East Coast friend.)

FLYING IN FORMATION

"Flying in Formation" is almost 3-1/2 years old. I was stopped short by these orchids the first time I spotted them on our grounds. This formerly life-long New York city resident was -- and still can be -- tickled by all the flora she'd never seen before. I so enjoy these little orchids, though since the time of this picture they've not bloomed quite as full and healthy again. To me they look like little flying dragons, hence the title. I really need their glow today and to be reminded that delightful surprises do sometimes happen.
