RAVELLED MOON

"Ravelled Moon" (6-4-17 038v2h) is a further morph -- today -- of an old morph of a pic of mine taken about a year ago. Just this morning alone I've put it through the tortures of the damned, chasing after something I keep seeing hints of in its shapes and contrasts. Not sure I've caught up with it, but it was a fun run.

A UNIVERSE BUDS OFF

"A Universe Buds Off" (10-18-17 016v2f) was just now morphed from a old pic version of a photo I took last fall (those fabulous tree roots I so enjoy snapping pix of). And as usual, I have several old versions and, now after this morning's session, several new ones. All through it's many different versions it suggested glacier growing to me, or the retreat of the moraine of a glacier leaving behind the beginning of a lake. But this one feels more cosmic, maybe it's the blurring that does that. In any case, it's a pic I'm still enjoying fussing with, even given its major challenge -- that bud shape at near center, that tends to stand out a bit too much. I'd suggest clicking on this image for a larger version if you'd like to see the fussy texture of much of it.

THE CALL OF THE CHANNEL ISLANDS

"The Call of the Channel Islands" (11-2-17 028v4) was taken last Halloween. I've had it hanging around in this version since then. And always liked it but today (as I did when I first fussed at it) I kept wanting to lighten all those dark shadows. And each time I did, in whatever fashion and to what degree, it spoiled the entire "feel" of the pic. So I accepted the darkness to retain the "impact" of the light of the distant clouds and water, with the Channel Islands clearly showing. I'd also at one time painted out that wire in the sky, but that, too, seems to bring something to the whole of the pic, so left it in. All I did (and retained) today was a minor cropping, and some painting out of a distracting white chalk circle on the sidewalk in the foreground. BTW, this is one of those pix that looks better in a larger version, so click on the image if you'd like to check it out.

SHE IMAGINES A NEW LOOK

"She Imagines A New Look" (11-2-17 019v2c) was just fudged out of the original selfie taken in my Halloween 2017 costume. Came across the slew of pix I took in my bathroom mirrors (one large, with a mirrored cabinet on each side) that evening before going to the party. The original for this one is much larger; I cropped the behoositz out of it. Not to mention all I did to it in Photoshop. But I kinda, sorta like it. Any pic of me that has wrinkles that are intended artistically rather than being my natural ones from having lived 75 years, is fine by me! :-) And that is only partly a joke ... BTW, to see the wrinkle ("craquelure" as its named in Photoshop) effect, click on the image for a larger version. Also, I did some stuff to the craquelure effect with other functions, as well, including diffusing the entire pic, and inverting and reinverting the colors.

THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME

"The Shape of Things to Come" (11-17-17 005v5a) was just fudged from a fairly recent pic of mine. Of course as is often the case, I also made several other versions. All the same shape and forms, but different color combos. However, I like this one the best for some reason. And for the first time in a little while, I really do like it. No big or even little reservations or apologies. Guess that means it's a good day! :-D
