"I Could Not Feel So I Learned to Touch..."

"I Could Not Feel So I Learned to Touch..." is from the lyrics to the Leonard Cohen song "Hallelujah." A much misunderstood song, IMHO. It gets related to as exclusively spiritual when it is actually an intense song about a human love relationship, especially its sexual aspects. Hey, I call 'em as I see 'em -- and hear 'em. In any case, that line popped to mind as I was working on this willow pic and it stuck. There are many blockbuster lines in this song, but (again IMHO) this is the one that always hits me hardest. I sit there thinking: wow, WOW, WOW! what a line. BTW, lots of fudging lies underneath this final resulting version of the willow branch pic. Click here to see another version tortured out of the original photo this morning.

AT WINTER'S EDGE

"At Winter's Edge" (4-3-17 019v5a) was just completed today from an old version of an original snapped in April of this year. Have several versions of this pic (what else is new?) and even more were deleted along the way. These branch shapes mesmerize me ... pinning me in front of my computer screen as my imagination runs the show.

CLIMBING INTO FALL

"Climbing Into Fall" (12-6-17 004v3b) was just "finished" today from a very new pic. Again, it was taken in Anisqoyo Park. I keep trying to get a good pic of these stairs. This day's view was particularly enticing with that fall-leafed tree peeking out at the top. This one's not an optimal crop/composition and I've several others I've tried already (of course, :-D). And I thought I was standing more directly at the foot of those stairs when I snapped the original pic, but it's clear I was a tiny bit off kilter. However, I like this version of the original (so far) the most as it retains the crisscrossing shadow lines and better guides the eye up to the red-leafed tree. Well, at least in my humble opinion.

FALL DANCES OUT

"Fall Dances Out" (12-6-17 006v4) was just fussed a little bit from a very new pic. What else to say, given it's of those trees in Anisqoyo Park of which I love to snap pix and have posted many versions of here.

WINTER MILL

I just stopped fussing at "Winter Mill" (12-6-17 021v2g) now. (You might try clicking on the image to see a larger version, as it has lots of detail.) I've been working on this version since taking it a few days ago. I also have others; one I almost decided to post here today. One that's more in keeping with the usual sunny mood of pointillism. (Yeah, I'm still into that impressionist effect.) But I like the wintery mood of this one a bit more. BTW, that is a "mill" in the middle background, and there's a stream and duck pond further back. Actually, the stream continues on from the mill to the right and under what is actually a foot bridge on the middle right. But it's pretty much overgrown; you can just see the vegetation in this pic. Recognize that framing tree? It's the one I keep posting pix of here. If you'd like to see a black and white, kinda, sorta pointillist version of this same shot, click here.

AUTUMN EVOLUTION

"Autumn Evolution" (12-6-17 017v2g) was fudged with over a few days from a very new pic. (Could you tell? :-D) It's basically the trunk of that fave tree of mine in Anisqoyo Park. I'd suggest clicking on the image to see it in a larger version as it has lots of detail (dots and lines and squiggles). (I'd cross my fingers now that the electricity stays on long enough for me to post this. The Thomas wildfire's really wreaking havoc and still spreading more north and west, which means it's now in Santa Barbara county, where I live. It's a way off yet, but the air quality -- well, it looks more like the start of a very dusty, pale sunset out there now. And electricity has already been on and off several times this morning. It's gotten so I jump when it clicks on or off. However, if that's the worst of it for us in Goleta, I'm endlessly grateful. The news on T.V. reduces me to tears. It was just now noted by a commentator that the fire's closing in on being the largest wildfire in CA history. But that's just a statistic. What really hits me is all the animals [wild and domestic], the trees [they don't seem to ever be mourned], the livelihoods and homes effected ...)
