BLOOMIN' BUDDIES

I've probably posted this here before ("Bloomin' Buddies" 8-16-09 5614e). But, if so, a bunch of years ago in a very slightly different version. It's always had some very small, distracting areas that I'd not gotten around to clearing up. I finally did that today in Windows 10's Photo program and you can bowl me over with a feather! I actually accomplished what I needed to with its spot fix function. That function works fine with tiny spots. But, leave it to me, I've been trying to find a way to make it work on somewhat larger, less perfectly round distractions. Which is what I needed in this photo. And I feel like I've won the lottery! It worked at last! I feel comfortable now not only posting this pic, but using it on an occasional photo-card I give folk on birthdays and other occasions. As I did today.

THE MINE FIELDS OF MEMORY

I'd thought to choose a pic of mine and write a haiku or tanka inspired by it, somehow acknowledging today is Memorial Day. Well, that just did not happen. Finding a pic I did not want to but felt compelled to (unsuccessfully) edit was hard enough. But the couple I liked enough "as is" did not generate any sort of little poem. Then I hit on this one, an untitled, unposted one from about one year ago. And a title for it popped right away -- "The Mine Fields of Memory" (5-13-18 034v3) -- that can be read in light of it being Memorial Day. So I'll leave it at this. And add my express gratitude for the all those who have served and are serving in the military.

GETTING A GLOW ON

"Getting A Glow On" (5-16-11 10972v2[2]) was just a wee bit fudged with (from an old version of a seven year old pic of mine). I worked on several other pix from various years and of different subjects. But this is about the best I think I'm going to come up with today. And it's not terrible. Just not joy-inducing. I haven't had that brief moment of joy on seeing a "finished" pic I've worked on in a long time. I'm hoping it's not a thing of the past like so much else as I get even older.
