Haven, above, is another of my oldest photos, recently re-colored. And that's about all I can think to say about it, except that it's one of the many I keep coming back to. Those shapes entice my imagination. "If I change its colors, where will it take me today," say I.

Sigh, as I finished this post I found myself still curious about the possibilities for this picture. So here, hot off the press, is Promulgation:

All I did was invert the colors and change them to the lavender/purple family, and make some attempts to improve the "texture" (focus). The latter, of course, is at the most only moderately successful with these oldest pictures due to their lower pixel count. Excuses aside, I still sort of like "Promulgation."

Another old photo, recently re-worked. The original of Flume is bright red. I became focussed on the curves of those long amaryllis stamens and lovely curving vein lines. Together they suggested water to me, so I simply had to change the color.

Thought I'd share a straight forward shot for a change. A Night Visit is a very old photo, just slightly re-cropped this morning but otherwise essentially untouched since taken over three years ago. I must say I'm greatly encouraged that I can still recall exactly where I took it. Can't name the town, but it was outside a fast food place, just after evening had fallen. I guess it was ambient light from the restaurant reflecting off the white petals that made it possible to capture this flower. I was very new to photography then and wasn't even aware yet how night shots differ from day ones, much less yet figured out how to use the flash or night setting. I figured back then that if I could see it, the camera would record it. In this case, I lucked out and that was true.

Now here's a silly one, yet I also enjoy it's textures and movement, Bug Eyed Monster:

Back in my long ago youth (1950's) space aliens in those wonderful pulp sci-fi magazines were often referred to as BME's, short for Bug Eyed Monsters. And the sort of faded colors in this photo echo the colors of the illustrations in those pulp 'zines. The original for this photo, like "A Night Visit," is also over three years old. And I can also recall exactly where I was standing when I took it. I.e., on the grounds of our retirement community in what was then largely a grouping of potted cacti at the foot of the ramp up to our B-Lounge meeting space.

Aquarium is a revision made this morning of a very old photo. One of those photos I keep coming back to because of it's interesting shapes. This time I inverted the colors (so, what else is new?), changed the orientation, and fooled just a little with the colors to soften and make them more "watery."

Warming to the Night is a re-working just made today of one of my oldest photos. I keep stumbling across entire folders of really old photos I want to work on. However, when I do I'm not all that satisfied with any I revise, but that may be more my mood than any sort of "reality." Or at least I'd like to believe that. (By the way, my not taking new photos this past week has been more determined by an extremely sore right knee, than any lack of interest. Especially given some of the fabulous rain drops and shadows I saw on canna leaves.)

Here's another old photo, just re-worked yesterday, In the Garden of the Fey:

Another morning of photo work with not very satisfying results. Although at this point I think I do like Yearning, I can't be sure I'm not just seduced by those lovely lavender and violet curves. The original for this old picture of the leaves in my favorite canna stand has been cropped nine ways to Sunday over the years. And after this particular crop this morning all I did to it was change the colors, then make them a little lighter and a bit less intense.

On posting "Yearning" I was caught by a particular very small section in it. So here's yet another crop, A Bump in the Road:

Of course the real "bump" here is the degradation of the resolution. I'm OK with it looking a bit like a painting or pastel, but would have preferred those lovely curving lines to be really crisp. Maybe when I have my new camera (higher pixel count) I'll get this wish more often.
