THE ISLANDS AT SUNSET

"The Islands at Sunset" (10-3-11 11324v15m) was just further fudged out of an old morph of a really old pic. Mostly I like the color combo. But I also enjoy the shapes, and the texture I brought out with blurring and then re-sharpening it a bit. (You'll need to click on the image for a larger version in order to see the details.) Makes me "homesick" for the beach overlook park. I can imagine the Channel Islands at sunset when I look at this pic. Haven't been able to walk down to the beach for weeks due to, first, the wildfires (poor air quality), and then to the mudslides (rain). And now I may not be walking for a while as I over did it and took a long walk to I.V. two days in a row and blistered a problem spot on my left foot. Argh! Will I ever learn? Well, I have those thousands of pix I mentioned here yesterday to keep me amused if I can't be walking much for a while.

WINGED SERPENT

"Winged Serpent" (10-3-11 11324v14d) was just morphed from (yep) a very old version of an even older original pic. I'm having a lot of fun wandering around my oldest folders of pix and re-discovering ones I like and, better yet, have an urge to fuss further with. Not taking many pix these days. Tried a few yesterday in Anisqoyo Park but none really worked out. So it's quite a boon to have these thousands of old pix to keep me happily torturing away.

SCATTERING OF THE SPIRIT

"Scattering of the Spirit" (10-8-11 11370v2b) was just morphed from an very old morph of one of my oldest pix. Nothing much else to say as it's clearly been heavily fussed with in Photoshop. I'll only add that, yes, it and the title reflect my on-going state of mind.

GOSSIP ON GOSSIP

"Gossip on Gossip" (9-3-09 6459v2) was just fixed up from its very old original pic (one of my oldest ever). I've always liked the original shot, but it's slightly tilted and has some distracting bits and pieces in the background. I'd tried over the years to "fix it" but always found it ultimately too unbalanced. So I left it alone for a long time. Except for one very close-in crop of the center blossoms that begins to look abstract or like lion's roaring mouths, thinking that maybe someday I'd get it right. Well, today's the day, though I still have a minor issue with it. But the operative word in that sentence is "minor." I love these gladiolas (we don't have them anymore on our grounds; they disappeared many years back) and am happy to finally post an almost uncropped and not very fudged with photo of them. They briefly lift my difficult mood with their colorful "gossip."

PARDON MY YAWN

"Pardon My Yawn" (10-05-09 7369v2) may have appeared here a long time time ago. But I have slightly lightened the shadows in it, so it's been improved a wee bit, if so. I rarely take these sorts of shots anymore (extreme centers of flowers, especially roses). I do still look at and enjoy our rose garden here, I just don't take my camera out for it much at all. The vast majority of my thirst for pix is slaked by my long walks, on which I don't see many opportunities for this sort of shot. Ah well, everything changes. And I'm grateful to have so many old flower center pix to fudge with!

THE EMBATTLED HEART

"The Embattled Heart" (10-5-09 7336v4e) was just morphed from a recent morph of an even older version of a very old original pic. Each stage along the way having its own layers. Yeah, just like what a heart goes through, layer after layer of growth and pain, joy and sorrow, etc., etc.

MIDNIGHT SUN

"Midnight Sun" (7-28-13 007v5) was just morphed from a very old original pic I'd not fussed at yet. Mixed feelings about it, but there's something I really connect to in it, so here 'tis!
