BIRTH OF THE LIGHT

"Birth of the Light" (10-31-12 12226ev7a) was re-morphed yesterday from an old morph of an even older pic. (I fudged with it to use it as my holiday email greeting image.) I have the original in many different colors, orientations, and crops. Just love that swirling rose center. Among other things its shapes suggest to me, its inner curve looks a wee bit like an embryo and also like a very minimalist Holy Mary figure embracing the Christ child. BTW, I did not do anything to those shapes in Photoshop. They are as they are in the original pic.

CASTING A WEB

"Casting A Web" (12-21-16 008v2) is a very new pic, fussed with yesterday. When I step back from this ocean overlook fence after taking pix of the ocean, clouds, and Channel Islands (when they're "out") my eye often gets caught by the fence's lines and shadows. They're different every time. What fun! (And this is one of those pix that I liked much more when it first flashed on my screen. Ah well, it's not like I don't have many other pix, from different angles and on different days in different light, of this fence to play around with.)

SOLSTICE TREE

"Solstice Tree" (12-21-16 012v2g) was morphed yesterday from a brand new pic. And (big surprise! lol) it's only one of several I've already made of the source photo. Had a very hard time choosing which to post today. But it being Solstice ultimately settled the issue. BTW, I'd really been hoping to capture a large crow that was sitting in the very top of this tree. But I had to take the shot too far away and my camera's not really equipped for that sort of distant detail, so the little splotch of the crow in the original got blended in during post production. (Or maybe my camera could do more ... I'm just not willing to learn all the adjustments I might be able to make. As I've said here many times before, I just want to take the shot, already.) Happy Holidays to All!

AUTUMN WEIGHS HEAVY

"Autumn Weighs Heavy" (10-13-10 10015v4) was just now morphed from a very old pic. I have fall on my mind as I finished and posted a poem this morning to my dreams&poetry blog with an autumn image in it. So it's not surprising then that it influenced where I went with this abstract. Actually, the pic I posted with that poem is another version of the same original I fudged the behoositz out of above.

ORANGE DELIGHT

"Orange Delight" (6-28-09 2974) is one of my oldest pix that I just now cleaned up a wee bit (painting out of a palm in the upper left that jumped out at me, a diffusing, and a tiny bit of sharpening). It's one of those I came across in that search for a pic for my holiday email greeting that I mentioned yesterday. I've always loved this stand of cannas and it's never quite reached this sort of glory in the past several years due to the drought. But I still always check on it as I go by, or sit on the library second floor balcony across the way.

CHRISTMAS BOUQUET

"Christmas Bouquet" (4-4-13 12401v2a) was just morphed yesterday from an (you got it!) old version of an even older pic. I'd been wandering through my folders looking for just the right pic for my email holiday mailing and kept finding pix (as usual when doing any sort of folder wandering) that I wanted to fuss with. And though this one turned out with the right feel for the holidays after I fudged with it, it just didn't do it for me for a big holiday emailing. But I think it's good for this blog as I haven't posted anything yet reflecting the time of year. There will probably be others from the same search posted soon. And with each will come my wishes for a delightful holiday season, as does "Christmas Bouquet."

WINTER WALKWAYS

"Winter Walkways" (12-09-16 020v2) was fixed up a bit a few days ago, pretty much right after taking it in Isla Vista's Anisqoyo Park. (I may have spelled that park name Aniskoyo here previously, but just now found out it's with a "q." It also has brackets around the "oyo" part of it, but it just looks like I made a typing error [smile]. The name is Chumash Indian for the entire mesa area and is from a word similar to theirs for "manzanita.") Not much done to this pic, other than finding the right crop and proper color saturation level. It's a small, what I would call almost "pocket," park. But it provides a fun photo walk, has picnic benches and ducks in a pond, and a little footbridge, etc.
