ATALANTA

"Atalanta" (8-18-12 12119v3c) is (as usual) one of several versions I morphed this morning of a new cropping of this old photo. One of the other versions is here, in the post today to my dreams & poetry blog. This statue has been gone from our garden for a long time and I still miss her grace, strength, and concentration as she balanced that large jug on her shoulder. As I worked on this pic today I thought that Atlas has nothing on her (smile).

TRAIN WRECK

"Train Wreck" (5-14-13 CIMGO504v3) pretty much expresses what I feel coming in my life. But at least for the time I was deeply into morphing this old pic, I was somewhere else. Wrecks, and things falling apart, only the vaguest of background shadows.

WINGING IT

"Winging It" (3-24-10 10006v2a) was just morphed now from an old version of an even older pic. I was especially pleased when it showed on my screen as I'd done a lot of rather unsatisfying editing of a pic earlier today for my dreams & poetry blog. This one's lightness is rather refreshing after all that.

WHERE'D EL NIÑO GO?

Yeah, it's odd to feel almost guilty for enjoying a day of sunshine when we need rain so much. In any case, I've had this crop (5-13-10 10021ev2) of a very old pic hanging around since I took it. And finally did what it needed (warming the color a wee bit and painting out one little distracting spot). Of course, before I settled on only doing those little things, I tried other effects. But none appealed to me today as much as its natural sunny face.

REENTRY

"Reentry" (5-13-10 10013ev2) is from a very old photo and just morphed now into this shape. (As usual, along with several other versions.) Not much to say about it except that the colors really appeal to me, as well as something about the shapes/lines. And given how spacey I've been feeling (waaaay out in orbit) my wish for reentry probably heavily influenced what I see in it and therefore the title.

LAYER CAKE

"Layer Cake" (1-23-16 002v4) was just morphed from a brand new pic. I like the full color version, but feel that the warm sepia tones bring out that "layering" of images that I see in it. (Not to mention that I begin to think of chocolate cake.) I also like it without the diffuse filter applied and sharpening, but again, combined with the sepia tones here I think they add some motion, if you will. Especially to those palms and their shadows.

THE NIGHT WANTS IN

"The Night Wants In" (7-23-09 4117ev3) was just morphed from one of my oldest pix, one that's stayed a favorite all these years, surprisingly, given how my taste changes. When I happened upon it this morning, I started by improving a bit on its focus/texture and recropping it to the proper dimensions for my online printer. And I ultimately wound up taking it from an interesting straight forward shot of shadows on a window/wall, to this suggestive place.
