DECOMPENSATION; & THIS CONSTANT BUBBLING

"Decompensation" (4-24-14 003v12) above, is a rather new pic, just fudged with this morning. It's one of many I've made of the same original. Click here if you'd like to see an earlier version, "Cloud Computing." And here's yet another version below, just messed with yesterday, "This Constant Bubbling" (4-24-14 003v8):

I still find it a little surprising how a few hours can change my reaction to a photo or poem of mine. "Decompensation" now calls much more to me than "This Constant Bubbling." Yet, yesterday the latter had me very pleased indeed. I suppose that's not so surprising that newer pix might be more appealing. After all, the critical eye hasn't had time yet to squeeze it's way back in to the foreground of my response. That's why, many years back, I'd always let a poem "cool" for many days before reading it in an open poetry forum or even sharing it with a good friend.

SWORD OF DAMOCLES

"Sword of Damocles" is a newish photo, messed with a few days ago. What else to say about it ... well, only that it's another of those pix of mine I'm fairly certain only a mother could love. Of course "love" is a rather positive word for the mood it reflects back to me. The on-going mood that is prompting my posting it today.

STUDY IN AQUA; & THE RETURN

"Study in Aqua" (5-2-10 10052v2) was just made from a four year old pic of mine. (I was looking for a particular photo yesterday and ran across a slew of old pix I now want to work on.) Believe it or not, the original shapes have not been fussed with. Nor has the pic even been cropped. The original was one of the few extreme rose center close ups I've gotten "as is." However, I did invert the colors, flip it on its side, re-color it, and apply a filter (one that brightens edges). Then (no surprise, I'm sure) I made several other versions. One of which is "The Return" (5-2-10 10052v3), below:

MELLOW YELLOW

Argh! "Mellow Yellow" (4-24-14 002v2) is another of those pix that blogger just won't post in the color showing on both Photoshop and Microsoft Picture Manager. When I first posted it here it was a sickly greenish yellow. I had to fool with it extensively, turning it into black and white, then bringing it back to yellow, to get it to appear here even close to the original color. This is a big disappointment as I had thought I'd figured out the editing function I was using that was causing this color discrepancy problem and I've not been using it. But it seems it's not the only function that gives blogger fits. Or rather, gives me fits. Sigh. (I'm more and more inclined to think that blogger's color spectrum just doesn't have the variety of shades that other programs do. Which would make a wee bit of sense as blogger was not designed as a photo editing program but as a blog platform.)

THE CALL OF HOME

"The Call of Home" (4-29-14 012v2) is a new pic, just now edited. Nothing much to say except that I've never really had a place I called home, in that deep rooted sense of home. (The closest I came was the apartment I lived in for 23 years in New York City before moving here to California in 2008.) So I always feel pretty much rootless, not at home. Also in this photo/title is a reference to the final home we all have.
