ON TOP OF THE WORLD

"On Top of the World" (8-18-15 008v2h) is a new crop and further morphing on a new pic I posted here a few days ago. This is one of those many pix I have that call me back to them, again and again. In this case, though, I keep thinking I should really give up on it as the source pic has some serious "issues" no amount of fudging seems to really help. (Though I do have to admit I've avoided doing some of the painting out work on one crop that just might rescue that straight forward version.) So I post this today as another "I haven't come across anything better to offer" pic. I think this exhaustion (of both body and mind) is largely related to the heat wave we've been having here in CA.

UNDERWATER

"Underwater" (7-11-13 005v8a) is one of many versions, even more versions than is my usual wont to produce of a fave pic. And its title and look certainly reflect my wish for rain, to see roses wet and glistening in the sunlight again. What little water they get now in this drought -- and this is all to the good given we live in a high desert climate and must conserve -- is from an underground drip system. Of course, I wouldn't want to see them totally drowned as this one is (smile). Though one could begin to wonder given how a very wet El Niño is looking possible for later this year.

OVERSHADOWING

"Overshadowing" (9-10-15 007v3) is a brand new photo. Even so, in the couple of days since I took it that construction site looks quite (sadly) different. There are now tall, nearly black, one story tall iron struts marring our view. As I've watched and photographed this building's progress I keep reminding myself that it's the nature of things to change; that many times that's all to the good. And of the old expression that "It's an ill wind that doesn't blow somebody some good." Sigh. It's just when one hangs around this planet long enough the weight of changes seems all the greater. At least for me. Hm, maybe that's partly why I so enjoy morphing the behoositz out of my pix. I'm at the helm of all the changes. Smile.

EYE OPENING

"Eye Opening" (7-11-13 005v2) was the umpteenth pic I checked out today for posting. At this point I'm probably more just giving up by posting it, than sharing a photo I like. Though I have to admit there's something cheeky about it I do like.

NIGHT ON BALD MOUNTAIN

"Night on Bald Mountain" (8-18-15 004v6) was morphed a few days ago from one of my newest pix. Lots of stuff I like about this one: the tumult of bright colors, the shapes and lines, the slight gradations in "texture," etc. My one issue is the square shape. But cropped any other way those dark forms stand out too much and the "mountain" sort of disappears. Then the pic doesn't hold the same interest for me.

THE DREAMER

My source pic for "The Dreamer" (5-1-13 12637v3) was "rediscovered" during my on-going archiving/deleting project. I just made this version of it today. Love the colors and the effect of the surface blur filter. There's a lot more I did to this pic prior to color fudging and blurring, but those two changes made it finally really work for me.

SUNDOWNER WIND

"Sundowner Wind" (9-2-09 6439ec) was just morphed this morning from that same pic as yesterday's (and many others recently). Yup, still stuck on the same pic. Hey, I'm having a good time, something that's in rather short supply these days. BTW, a sundowner wind is unique to this area, I gather, given the geography, and "is particularly dangerous during wildfire season because the air heats and dries as it descends from the mountains to the sea. Gale force hot, dry winds can make firefighting impossible."
