WHEN YOU'RE SMILING ...

"When You're Smiling" (3-24-16 002v2) was just fussed today from a very new pic. And, so far, stands alone as its offspring. I took some other shots of roses that look good so far on screen, and I'll be working on those soon. Our memorial rose garden is doing rather well given the drought. (El Niño hasn't lived up to its promise ... yet [I can hope, can't I?]. Though what rain we've had has certainly been a very welcome help.)

FOLLOWING THE LIGHT

"Following the Light" (3-22-16 028v3) was just morphed today. It's actually another one that's the result of inverting the colors on an earlier version. (Which pic you can see here.) I then did a tiny bit of color saturation on this one. For once I'm actually content with both versions.

AT THE HEART OF IT ALL

"At the Heart of It All" (9-29-12 121603v4c) was just morphed today (along with, as always, a couple other versions) from an old pic. I was initially going to post one of the others; a darker colored/themed one. But as I usually do before the final decision, I reversed the color on that darker one just out of curiosity. And, voila! I liked the reversal better. I then had a wee bit of fussing to do at the color contrast, and texture. But it's essentially that darker one with "color invert" applied. Wish I could invert my moods as readily as that!

THE ISLANDS OF PERCEPTION

"The Islands of Perception" (3-3-16 002v11c) is from a recent version of a new photo. (Along with several others I fussed out of the original shot this morning.) I'm quite split on how I feel about it. There are bits about it I really like (that are why I'm posting it) and other things I'm very unsure about (which caused me to go after yet another version). Nothing in my life more consistently tells me that nothing is perfect than this process of working on pix ... or calls into question just what "perfect" is. I keep being reminded of what someone famous said (I'm too rushed right now to google for the author) that a work of art is never finished, just abandoned.

HER DREAMS STAND WATCH

"Her Dreams Stand Watch" 8-27-11 11181v3) is from a very old photo, just morphed today (and ... wait for it ...) it's one of several versions I've already made. But I've only saved one other one, and have another really old, very different version that a friend made up in a pendant. I'm very fond of pix I stumble across in my folders of this sleeping lady figure that used to be in our garden. I don't doubt that I'll fool around with the original shot -- that includes much more of the surrounding greenery and much unsightly schmutz -- the next time I stumble across it.

THE ARBOR

"The Arbor" (5-18-11 11002ha) was just further morphed today out of an old version of a very old pic. One of those many pic versions I keep coming back to because of the shapes. I like the faint suggestion remaining in this one of the stained glass filter. As if the arbor "pieces" are slowly growing/falling into shape with the advent of spring. (Which is exactly what's happening in our memorial rose garden.)

DRAWING FROM MEMORY

"Drawing from Memory" is from a very old pic that I've had in this version for some time. Took a long time to grow on me. As did another version of it I just now posted to my dreams&poetry blog this morning. Hm, things really do change, don't they, even sometimes memories.
