GREETING THE MORNING; ON THE WING; & AFTERNOON NAP

"Greeting the Morning" (11-14-14 029v3) above, was just taken yesterday. Our memorial rose garden is responding to the special care it's been getting recently. (Thanks to the combined efforts of a resident and a friend of our community). I'd thought it was looking peaked due to the drought but it seems not. "On the Wing" (11-14-14 027v6) below, was morphed from a different shot of the same rose:

And "Afternoon Nap" (11-14-14 027v10) below, was fussed out of the same pic:

AVAST, ME HEARTY!

"Avast, Me Hearty!" (1-23-10 19154e) is a very old photo, just tweaked a wee bit today (little bits of cropping and color saturation). I took it on a Wharf in Santa Barbara that I haven't been to in years, which makes me somewhat sentimental for "old" times and places.

MIND BLOWING

"Mind Blowing" (11-4-14 026v4) was just morphed today from a new pic. Nothing much else to say except that I have lots of little problems with it. But I've been seduced by its colors and shapes into posting it anyway.

QUAVERING

"Quavering" (11-6-14 004v6c) is in another of my favorite color combos. Especially given those little bits of lavender that come in at the edges. I had great fun morphing this one. A couple Photoshop functions that I've been experimenting a bit more with are angled strokes and crosshatch (and less so, rough pastels). They each add little light colored straight lines going at an angle across the pic. It's always a surprise to see just how these filters interact with whatever lines/shapes are in a particular picture. I sometimes then reverse the colors or blur the pic, or any other number of additional filters. "Quavering" is the result of a host of different filters, plus color work in MS Picture Manager. (BTW, I've begun working with the color functions in Photoshop. And right now am finding them particularly useful with improving the various contrast problems of some representational pix of mine.)

L.O.L.

"L.O.L." (4-29-12 11816ev8) was just morphed today out of another old picture (plus a few other versions I'm far less content with). I'm such a sucker for bright colors all together. And I've become way too enamored of the comic filters in Photoshop -- they put in those wiggly black lines and brighten colors, also changing some shapes. But not only does this pic tickle me, it resembles (at least to me) someone laughing hugely out loud. Actually -- and this is probably proof of my insanity -- I see Jabba the Hutt of Star Wars fame, jiggling away at one of his own jokes.

NIGHT FLOWERS

"Night Flowers" (7-28-12 12093ev3) ... what can I say ... well, it's in favorite colors and made from another pic that I'm quite fond of. I know this is a photo blog but this wannabe poet can't resist occasional comments on titles. In this case, I am tickled by how "flowers" can be read as either a noun or verb.

WHERE THERE'S A WILL THERE'S A WAY

"Where There's A Will There's A Way" (10-1-11 11319ev14) is one of more morphs of the same old original pic than I'd care to shake a stick at. But at least I'm having fun during a not very "up" time in my life (to put it mildly). I'm beginning to think lengthy photo sessions produce the same endorphin response as addictive behavior, such as sugar binges. (And that's only partly a joke.) Well, at least it's a healthier choice. Provided I remember to get up and walk around every so often ... and sit up straight when at the screen.
