MAY GRAY IN MARCH

For anyone who's seen earlier photos here of this familiar view ("May Gray in March" 3-14-17 017v2), some even under foggy conditions, I apologize. I love taking pix of it. And keep trying to improve on whatever pix I already have. Who knows? Maybe some day the light, or time of day, or the season, or all, will be just right for a pic I'll be really satisfied with. (I also need to try getting closer, like to where the stairs actually start down. I imagine I might be able to lean a lot further out than I do from the fence where I've been snapping these pix.) Until then -- and even if it never happens -- I'm having great fun trying.

DREAMING OF TOMORROW

"Dreaming of Tomorrow" (3-14-17 009v2a) was just now morphed from a rather new pic. Not over the moon about it. But I don't seem to be able to come up with any other version, or even other pic entirely, that suits me any better. I do like all those details. I just don't know how they might come across to folks who don't have advancing cataracts. (Yeah, I'm concerned about my cataracts again.) BTW, this pic is of that jacaranda I keep talking about that I so like. The original's a day time shot, of course.

WAITING FOR THE SUN

"Waiting for the Sun" (4-3-17 034v2) was taken only a few days ago and just fussed into presentable shape now. (Cropping, painting out a floating bird that was just a distracting dot in the ocean, color adjustment, diffusing, and sharpening. And not a whole lot of any of that. BTW, this is pretty much how the ocean and sky looked today. I was rather chilly but that's the only reason I missed the usual bright sun. Love these moody ocean scenes. Maybe someday I'll get a photo that more fully satisfies my desire to get one down in a picture that also pleases my aesthetic sense. In the meantime, this one comes fairly close.

SHE COMES UNDONE ... AGAIN

"She Comes Undone ... Again" (6-27-09 2904v2c) was just now morphed from one of my oldest pix. What else to say? Clearly I massively fudged with it. Would like to say (as I usually do) that I had great fun doing so. But, sigh, not so much today. I've really come undone for now. And if the past 9 months is any proof, it'll pass ... and then happen again. BTW, the colors seem a little muddy but I couldn't seem to fix that. Well, guess that suits an undone mood, too ... muddy.

RUNE FOR THE DAY: No Entrance

"RUNE FOR THE DAY: No Entrance" (9-3-09 6468v2) is a very old version of one of my oldest pix, just slightly sharpened today to bring out the details a bit more. It doesn't resemble an actual Rune. It just feels like a Rune message to me. That's probably because I've been drawing a Rune each morning and am seeing Runes, both actual and made up like this one, everywhere. Here's the link to a post of another unreal Rune pic I made this morning that's much more evocative of actual Rune designs.

EMBRACING THE SUNSET

"Embracing the Sunset" (4-3-17 019v2c) was just now fussed with and only taken yesterday. Yeah, I'm really into trees right now. Honestly, though, I've always loved them. In fact, a willow was one of my dearest childhood friends. I've taken pix of this tree before and probably posted a couple. And this pic has been rather more fudged with than it may appear to have been. E.g., color inversion and re-inversion, and then bringing the color back to more natural ones. BTW, the original is not a sunset pic. I added that along the way. It seemed to make the reaching "arms" of the tree all the more poignant.

THE HARPIST

"The Harpist" (3-27-17 001v2) is a very new pic, heavily cropped. I took the original from quite a distance, with a totally different scene in mind. But then I saw the possibilities for this one tree and went to town finding the best crop. There's also been a wee bit of color work. And fussing at the texture, as it needed it after such a big crop.
