OOPS! MISSED THE CHIMNEY...

Finally remembered to re-take pix of this Santa up a tree, "Oops! Missed the Chimney..." (12-19-14 001v4), that I mentioned a couple days ago here. Hope your Holiday Season is filled with joy (and goes without a hitch).

THE FIRE INSIDE

"The Fire Inside" (9-2-09 6432v9) was just tortured out of an old photo. For a few days now, I've been trying to develop a pic for use in my Seasons Greeting email, but with no success so far. However, I am developing an occasional pic along the way that I like for other use, as here. This is one of them. Not sure what tickles me about it. Maybe just that it finally looks somewhat balanced. I've morphed several other very different versions, most of which have a visual balance problem. Ah well, start with an out of balance pic -- which the original is -- and where else would I expect to wind up? :-) It took a lot of careful cropping, re-coloring, re-adjusting of contrasts, and applications of filters to balance this one out to my satisfaction. But I hasten to add, it's all fun and keeps these aging brain cells awake and curious.

FOSTERING THE FLAME

The source photo for "Fostering the Flame" (10-5-09 7369v2) is in that same old folder I've been coming back to a lot. This version I just fussed into shape this morning. What can I say, I love rose centers and their seeds. Every time I say I love or have a penchant for something I laugh a bit. There's so much I enjoy photographing, and then cropping and/or fooling with in some way. Even given my issues with both my cameras (really more my tech inexpertise), and often disappointing results (before and after fudging). The process along the way still delights, for which I'm grateful.

IN THE CAVE OF DAY; & DREAM DANCER

"In the Cave of Day" (12-7-14 006v7) above, is from a newish photo just fudged with today. And "Dream Dancer" (12-7-14 006v6) below, is another morph of that same pic:

Won't go on because I'll just wind up complaining/critiquing. And I think for a change I should let newly minted pix settle in, simply being what they are.

CHRISTMAS TREE

Clearly, "Christmas Tree" (11-14-14 041v8) has been influenced in both its colors and title by the season. I'd actually hoped to have a pic of a Santa caught up in a eucalyptus (I think that's what it is) tree today, but I messed up (long story). Maybe it'll still be there tomorrow and I can get shot of it then. Anyway, I'd seen an earlier version of "Christmas Tree" as a possible seasonal pic and today seemed just the day to get try to get at that sense. I'm not fully delighted by the result but it does tug at my imagination which is always welcome.

RECOLLECTION

"Recollection" (10-5-09 7313v4a) is from a very old photo. One I've always liked (especially for the stamen and its shadow) but with which I've had problems. However, I think this re-aligned crop and the sepia tones (plus lots of background clean-up), make for a passable pic.

ROMPING IN THE RAIN; & DARK STAR RISING

"Romping in the Rain" (10-5-09 7369v3) above, is from a very old photo, for which I now have a slew of versions just fussed with endlessly this morning. Of them all I think I may like "Romping in the Rain" the best. Probably because it recalls my hippie youth and black light posters. (Yes, I used the Photoshop solarize filter on this rose center pic. But then did a whole bunch of other things to it.) I also sort of like "Dark Star Rising" (10-5-09 7369v6) below (converted to b&w, contrast fooled with, and further cropped):
