BLACK SUN RISING

"Black Sun Rising" (6-4-17 038v2g) was just morphed from an already much fussed with version of a pic taken early last summer. Not much else to say, except that it's one of those I'm surprised hasn't long since dissolved into a bunch of wonky little boxes, being it's so heavily edited. :-) However, I suspect there are certain Photoshop functions that don't further the degradation of an image but actually (for lack of better knowledge of tech words) wipe out some previous effects. Which then makes it possible for me to continue to torture some pix almost endlessly! Of course, I've not yet figured out what the combos of functions/filters are, so that I might use them with a will. But I sure am grateful when the viable "life" of a much edited pic is extended.

PHEW! THAT WAS A HEAVY LOAD

"Phew! That Was A Heavy Load" (8-21-17 001v2) has been ready for posting for some time. I just haven't felt jazzed enough about it (especially given those bright swaths of light). But today the humor I always see in it grabbed me and seemed worth sharing. We old folk in the retirement community I live in -- where I stumbled across this "tired" cart -- use these shopping carts to haul just about everything around, and even sometimes briefly as walkers. A herd of them, from which to choose one and return it to after use, is usually in residence in our underground garage. I used one, on and off, until I finally gave in a got a wheeled walker that now does the same work. Including moving me along on my long walks. (The rest of the time I use my bamboo/flute walking stick.)

EVERYTHING HAS ITS OWN LIGHT

"Everything Has Its Own Light" (2-27-17 014v3) was just tortured out of a pic taken about a year ago. It was snapped in that park I've posted so many pix of. I doubt I'll ever make it to the top of that little hill, as I can't see me wobble/dragging my walker up it nor leaving it below as I hobble up. (I can do stairs, but save my one "good" knee for emergencies only. :-D) So, I'll just keep wondering what the view from it is like. And take pix of it when the mood strikes me. I did a whole lot to this pic on the way to today's version. But what shows mostly is, of course, the inversion of the colors, and either "find edges" or "glowing lines." Also did a wee bit of cropping and re-aligning, and some color saturation. I also took out lots of stray red dusty dots from the "night" sky. However, the landscape elements themselves have not been touched. They're as is. Please click on the image if you want to see the details. Yeah, it's truly one of those photos only it's mother could love: very fussy, and demanding of attention ...

CAUGHT UP IN THE DAY

"Caught Up in the Day" (3-14-17 009v3a) was just morphed from an old version of a year-old pic. Nothing much else to say. I've clearly done a lot to it in Photoshop and had great fun doing it. The original is of a jacaranda tree in non-blossoming season. Maybe that's why I brought back in the suggestion of lavenderish blossoms when I fudged with it. Missed 'em! :-) Actually lavender was "accidentally" introduced when I did some other stuff to it. But, of course, I still then had the choice to keep that color or not. And retain (and amplify) it I did.

MAKING MEMORIES

The original pic for "Making Memories" (3-14-17 016v2) was taken a year ago, fussed with a great deal back then, and just today further fixed up a bit (some contrast work and a wee bit of sharpening). I'm not sure the title works except for me as I've not forgotten that day. Or that couple at the far end of the stairs. I have other pix that frame the two of them, close up, but think I like this shot (and crop thereof) the best. It places them in a larger context. As to the title: I just kept thinking what sorts of memories are they making between them in such an evocative setting? Are they even aware of it, or are they totally absorbed in each other, or the hyper-active surf below? I only know for certain I'm grateful for their part in the memory this pic evokes in me.

ON THE WAY TO SUMMER

The original source pic for "On the Way to Summer" (3-25-17 010v3a) was taken last spring of one of my most favorite trees to sit underneath and write. And, clearly, occasionally take pix. :-) On the way to this version of the original, I produced four others, ranging from just recognizably a willow, into the abstract realm. But I like this one most (and one old version that's even more realistic). It's a good guess that I'll share those abstracts at some point, however. As they're kinda sorta intriguing in their own rights, IMHO.
