MIDNIGHT SUN

The original for Midnight Sun (7-17-10 10016ev2) is going on four years old. I've wrestled other versions from it over the years, but just made this one today. I haven't noticed a sunflower like this on our grounds in a couple of years. But maybe I just wasn't focusing on this particular corner of our grounds where they were growing when I got the source shot for "Midnight Sun." Our Memorial Rose Garden is catty-corner across a sidewalk from that area and I often get all caught up snapping pix of the roses. (That amazingly still to this former New Yorker bloom just about year round, in lesser or greater numbers.)

LEAP OF IMAGINATION

The original for Leap of Imagination is a few years old, and has been worked on in various versions for some time now. I even revised this one just now. I liked it but it still didn't quite embody the title that kept whispering itself to me. So I flipped the pic 90 degrees and ah! now I really see some leaping going on.

THE GLORY TREE

The original for The Glory Tree (5-7-12 11877ev2) is old (of course :-D) and fudged with months ago. Color inversion so that the seeded center of a flower "glows" is one of my long time favorite Photoshop functions. And these colors are favorites, as well. They showed up on inverting the original's colors. All I did then was brighten them a bit. Then I cropped the photo so that the "tree" was much more the focus than the petals.

IN THE LIGHT OF MEMORY

In the Light of Memory (6-28-09 2985v2) is another very old photo. I've had this version hanging around for some time and all I did this morning was increase the contrast a little bit. I wanted for some obscure reason to post a "realistic" photo today, though I had quite a time finding one I could live with sharing. Of course, these colors aren't "realistic" but the scene is clearly so, and I got tired of searching through folder after folder and my stacks of little notes about pix I haven't used yet. As it happens this pic suits my mood just fine today, so here it is.

HELICAL

Helical (11-19-09 8258e) is from one of those really old folders of endlessly engaging pix. Many times I'm surprised at how obvious the "fix" was for some problem I saw that kept the photo languishing, if you will, for years. I hope that's a sign of developing skills. But I'll take it even if it's just a matter of having come to it with fresh eyes. (All this one really needed was to be tilted, re-cropped, and color saturated.)

GETTING ANTSY; & WINTER SURF

Other than it's bright colors, I don't know what tickles me so much about Getting Antsy (11-19-09 8256ev9) above, but it does tickle me. I've often thought (and found some evidence for it over the years) that this particular reaction I have is based in a long-forgotten childhood image-memory.

And here's another version of that same photo, Winter Surf that doesn't tickle me the way "Getting Antsy" does, but that I do feel good about:

By the way, the original for both of these is from one of my oldest folders of pix. But I just yesterday produced these versions.
