OK, YOU'VE GOT MY ATTENTION

"OK, You've Got My Attention" (5-27-11021e) is a very old pic and I'm sure I posted it here a long time ago. But I'm in a rush and was opening folders at random when this little face popped up. I do so still like it, even after all these years. So, here it is again and with a new name (don't even have time to find out what I originally called it). On another but related subject, I have at long last ordered a new camera (with my credit card complaining the entire time it took me to fill out the info yesterday). I'm hoping it will be an improvement over the wide angle lens camera I've been reduced to using. As I've complained before here, my other two cameras died on me (spookily enough) during Halloween parties in 2015 and 2016.

THE SUN ALWAYS SETS

"The Sun Always Sets" (1-18-17 003v3a) is a brand new pic, just morphed yesterday. Further evidence that my long standing romance with trees isn't about to wane. I'd blush to admit how many versions I already have of this particular pic. BTW, there weren't any leaves at all on these trees. Those yellow "leaves" are a happy accidental result of all the editing I did. I may post the original, straight forward pic some day if I can get it shaped up to my satisfaction, as I simply adore all its bare twigs and branches twisting against the blue sky.

HOLDING UP THE SKY

"Holding Up the Sky" (1-18-17 015v3) was just "finished" now. Well, sort of now. I've been fussing back and forth between several versions of several tree pix for a couple of hours. And have ultimately wound up seeing some problem in each of them, or (as with this one) losing my enthusiasm for it. There's nothing particularly wrong with this one, though I do wish it didn't "have" to be a square pic, but any other crop lost that countryside feel. (I've decided to at least consider biting the financial bullet and am going to do research on a new camera. The biggest issue I had with all the tree pix I took yesterday was due to my only working camera having a wide angle lens, as I mentioned here yesterday.)

HAILING THE RAIN

"Hailing the Rain" (1-18-17 010v2) was just taken today in foggy Anisqoyo Park in Isla Vista. (As I'm posting this it's been raining for a while ... yay!) Wish the only working camera I have left wasn't a wide angle lens. I took some other pix and it really played havoc with high, beautifully spreading tree branches in a couple. And it also has a wee bit of a focus issue ... sigh. I'll just have to continue getting my debt down so that I can (ack) bring it right back up again by charging a new camera. Unless I can figure out what's wrong with my much preferred old Samsung. I thought I had it fixed this morning. However, in the time since it broke (Halloween) I'd forgotten exactly what the problem was and discovered it soon enough when I tried taking pix with it. Fortunately, I had thought to bring my wide angle lens also, just in case. So at least I have some pix to work with that are fresh, if problematic.

LONG TIME, NO RIDE

"Long Time, No Ride" (1-16-17 004v5a) was just morphed from a new pic. Bikes are the major form of transportation in the university town of Isla Vista. But I've never seen one looking overgrown as they're used so much (as also are skateboards). To be honest, it wasn't actually overgrown. It's the way it'd been parked that grabbed those flowers. I just got a little laugh out of imagining that it'd been there long enough to have flowers growing between its spokes.

WINTER SUNSET

"Winter Sunset" (1-14-17 003v2c) was just morphed from a new pic. (Of that tree with the yellow leaves I've been posting pix of recently.) Can't think of much else to say. Except I'd probably stash this one and go on to work on something else instead of posting it. But I'm rushed. And in a very cranky mood so even if I had time I doubt I'd come up with something I like more. I will say I really like the shapes of those branches.

HOLY MOLY!

"Holy Moly!" (12-15-16 021v2ha) is a new morph of an earlier version of a month old pic. Sigh, it's another of those I liked much more on first seeing it pop on my screen. But I do still like the colors and shapes and contrasts. So what am I not liking? Not sure. I just spent quite a bit of time fussing at it in Photoshop and couldn't seem to get at what bothers me a wee bit. I'd even thought it's the odd shape (not square and not the "norm" 640X430), but cropping it differently didn't help. Something about a need for more "depth," I then thought. And tried to get some using the surface blur filter, which often will supply that illusion of depth. And it helped a little, but ... ah, well, nothing in this life is perfect so I'll just leave it be.
