NEW NEIGHBOR; & FALL LAUNDRY DAY

Both pix were just taken and worked on (a wee bit) today. "New Neighbor" (10-4-14 002v2) looks toward the new building going up behind and outside our grounds. I certainly hope a fence and covering flora go up again across that new viewing gap. We usually have some visual separation from any housing behind us. As in the below pic, "Fall Laundry Day" (10-4-14 027), taken many yards to the right of the above pic:

And, yes, I recently posted an almost identical pic of these fall leafed trees. However, that's a new and larger stack of leaves on the ground and those white items drying (airing?) on the bench were not there. So I'll lay claim to it being a new pic. In any case, it shows the sort of visual -- if not aural -- buffering we used to have between us and where that new building's going up. (It's too much to hope for sound buffering, as we're located in Isla Vista/Goleta which is the college town of UCSB. One adjusts to the periodic noisy revelry ... usually. :-D)

DRINKING IN THE NIGHT

"Drinking in the Night" (9-27-14 018v5) is a new photo, just morphed this morning. Nothing much to say about it, as it's clearly been fudged with quite a bit in Photoshop. Except that I do find that sort of baby bird mouth in the rose's middle interesting, and that's what I tried to bring out.

DRONE'S EYE VIEW

"Drone's Eye View" (9-24-14 013v7) is the morphing of a photo of those outside staircases I so enjoy looking at and snapping pix of. Although I feel OK looking at this photomorph's resemblance (to me) to a drone overflight, I find drones themselves rather creepy. As I do that just about everything these days is videoed and photographed, in a selfie, or store or traffic cam, or otherwise. I say that fully acknowledging my own photomania. Though I must add that I go out of my way to respect people's privacy and right not to be photographed. Fortunately, that's not too much of an issue as I'm not good at all at taking pix of people so therefore am not inclined to do so very often.

MEETING THE MORNING

"Meeting the Morning" (9-20-14 028v4f) was taken and worked on about a week and a half ago, and finally "finished" this morning. I probably should let all brand new edits sit for a few days before posting, because I almost always then see something in them that needs work. In the case of "Meeting the Morning," it needed some cropping to de-emphasize that staircase landing's presence within the overall photo. Which is interesting because I noted with this pic something I've probably mentioned before. How the scale of a photo can change it's effect. I.e., in this case the larger this photo is, the less the staircase landing stands out. Ah, well, one cannot control for all viewing situations, or light, or background colors. Sort of like life as a whole, ey? Do the best one can and let it go.

GAME BOARD

"Game Board" (9-24-14 012v2) is very new and just edited today. All I did was work for the best crop. Also, to line it up as straight as possible. (It was taken with my wide angle lens camera, and as careful as I am when framing shots, they can still sometimes come out skewed just a bit.) Unusual these days, to say the least, to fuss so little with a pic. BTW, if it looks familiar, it's because I posted a similar photo not long ago. But it was taken directly one flight above (on the terrace between the stairs and building entrance there). "Game Board" has the added interest of that stag horn fern on the right. Need I say it yet again? I find the architecture and shadows around the grounds of this retirement community I live in endlessly fascinating.

IN THE LAP OF AUTUMN

"In the Lap of Autumn" (9-27-14 005v4c) is from that batch I took day before yesterday. I'm still diddling around in that folder of pix because the colors are such a delight. Not to mention all the fall memories they call up. If I had a favorite season, it might be autumn. Somehow for me, its warm colors and crisp smells are the most evocative of all the seasons. I've tried since childhood to capture that fall magic I feel in paintings, then poems, and now in recent years in photos. This photo comes a bit closer than most my efforts over the years.

HIBERNATION; & POLTERGEISTS

"Hibernation" (9-27-14 009v9), the above photomorph, is in keeping with the theme of yesterday's post, autumn. It's actually of a rose center that led me on a merry chase today. And below is a Halloween themed photomorph made about a week ago, "Poltergeists" (9-20-14 015v8). It also took me on quite a journey to arrive where it's now at:
