MEMORIES IN MAUVE , & ASSEMBLAGE

Memories in Mauve, above, is a re-working I just did today of a year old photo of bright yellow roses. Nothing much else to say about it except that it's been cropped, and the colors inverted and changed to these pale purple shades.

Assemblage, below, is the above photo with another filter applied and the colors, saturation, and mid-tones all changed/adjusted.

LAST DAYS IN THE LIGHT, THEIR DAY IN THE SUN, & [untitled]

Last Days in the Light, above, is a recent photo, just edited today (as were all three posted here).

And just for comparison's sake -- it's a bit messy visually -- below is the version from which I made the above photo. It's tentatively called Their Day in the Sun, while I decide whether or not it's worth cleaning up or if I can just leave it be:

Last, is an untitled crop of the section of this photo that has most drawn me all along. Don't know if I can make it work, but I'll probably come back to it:

SHAPE SHIFTER

Shape Shifter, above, is almost four years old, snapped back when I was only months into taking photos for the first time in my life. However, the above version is recent, made in May of this year.

The untitled picture below, just for comparison's sake, is the crop of the original in its natural color from which I edited Shape Shifter.

Just love those petal curves and shadows. They led me, back when I first took the pic, to make two edits that I've already posted here.

THE SECRET LIFE OF ROSES

The Secret Life of Roses has been worked on several times since I took it a few days ago. I got hung up first on the colors. I really did try to find some other range of colors than these, my old favorites. Then I just could not get the crop "right." (It's a much larger photo. I'd leaned in as close as I dared both for the sake of my arthritic knees and my camera's issue with near focus on light colored objects.) I liked an earlier crop that included more of those lovely lavender background leaves. But that also meant including some distracting areas as well, so I had to make it smaller. Sigh, that's a lot of explaining for a picture I'm still not really content with. Well, at least I really enjoy the colors! ... and the roses at two phases of blooming.

"In a triangle...," MOVING ON, & SEA HORSE

"In a Triangle...", above, is a haiga, i.e. a haiku on a painting or photo. The photo is almost three years old, but I wrote the haiku recently. (In case it's not readable, the haiku is: in a triangle / of sunlight -- the bruise / on her knuckle.)

Moving On, below, is the same photo just edited today.

Sea Horse, next below, is also the same photo worked on today.

As per usual, I'm not displeased with these efforts, but not really taken with them either. I share them mostly as another example of how one photo can have several different incarnations once my imagination gets a hold of it.
