APPROACHING HOME

"Approaching Home" (5-24-15 051v2) was just fussed into at least presentable shape today from an old pic. It's in that same folder I've been messing around in for days now. Can't seem to get my fill of the various pix it houses. I'm beginning to think something particular was going on in my life at the time (a little over a year and a half ago) that I took all those pix, that's resonating with and/or disturbing my present life. And that's why I'm stuck there. Actually, just typing that shook loose what's got me hooked in this folder (beyond the pix) and it is memories from that time. But enough of my inner nonsense, I haven't walked this direction along El Colegio probably since that time. So next time I go walking I'll make a left out our front gate and visit this view and others. And snap a whole new batch of pix. Maybe, can't ever predict when I'll get the itch to snap. Of course, if I have finally got my new camera set up and read its manual, I'll probably be anxious to try it out! Yeah, I've had my new camera for some time now. But the manual print is so tiny the thought of wrestling to read it puts me off. Forgot to mention, the driveway entrance to the retirement community I live in is not even a block past that "Westwinds..." sign on the right in this photo.

BRAIDED DREAMS

"Braided Dreams" (5-24-15 05v6t) was just now endlessly further morphed from an older version, utilizing that filter I mentioned yesterday ("glass") that I'm having great fun experimenting with. Though "great fun" might be more than a bit of an overstatement today, given my pre-full moon crazies and the storm that's coming (yes, I'm grateful for the rain, just not for how it effects my mood). All that aside, I kinda, sorta like this pic. I'm least sure, though, about it's "scratchiness" though I do realize it's something I don't often retain in a pic. (Click on the pic to see more clearly what I'm referencing.) So maybe I should stick with it and see how it settles in for me over time. After all, it does resemble a pastel or colored pencil sketch. Even if it does make me itch to soften those line edges.

THROUGH THE LENS OF SELF

"Through the Lens of Self" (5-24-15 072v2d) was just morphed yesterday out of an earlier morph of an even earlier version of an old pic. There may be more pix coming up with that squarish effect in it as I've recently discovered adjustments that radically effect the way the glass filter acts. I knew that some adjustment options were there but had no idea how wild they could get as I'd never particularly cared for the initial effect of "glass" so hadn't fooled around with them. Those adjustments also produced the curvy lines in this pic. So I'm having great fun experimenting with the effects of this filter.

GOLDEN AGE

Yes, I do find this dying fiddle head fern branch beautiful. That's why it's name, "Golden Age" (5-24-15 006v2). Just as I find old people beautiful, and not as the cliche would have it: in their own way, as if it's not true beauty. But simply, flat out, beautiful.

FLY AWAY HOME

"Fly Away Home" (5-24-15 056v6p) was just now "finished" after working on it and several other versions today and yesterday. It's from an old pic I just can't leave alone (so, what else is new?). It keeps egging me on to try other things on its shapes and textures and color combos. Each version generating another, and so on, like nesting dolls. It hasn't but briefly gone wonky on me even. Guess I just kept countering any really troublesome wonkiness with the various filters and functions I was applying. Wish the wonks in my life (who shall remain nameless, smile) were as readily coped with.

ON THE TRAIL OF CUBISM

"On the Trail of Cubism" (2-6-17 005v6) is a brand new pic that I obviously just morphed the behoositz out of. Had great fun doing so, but am not sure I like the result as that much now that it's "cooled" a bit. But when is it ever any different? Especially now, under a waxing gibbous moon -- the phase that makes me crazier than I already am. Yeah, I do wish the trail today was toward something squarish. As much as I love our round beauty in the sky, this phase does make me too weird.

IN A CORNER OF THE WORLD

"In A Corner of the World" (5-27-15 047v2) is a old pic, fussed with back then, and just now a little more adjusted (color work). Gotta rush off, but there's not much else I can say about it anyway. Except that I've always like the mood of it. (Even as I always want to fuss at other little things about it. Nu?)
