LOOKING BACK

"Looking Back" (7-16-16 009v3g) was just fussed this morning out of a full color version. Even the full color one has the sort of memory-oriented feeling I was working to bring out in this version. First, I chose the "right" black and white conversion, then I color inverted, and then I applied a sepia toned filter. Sepia tones almost always imply memory to me. Probably because I associate them to the tones of daguerretotypes I once had of family members going back a couple of generations.

HOLDING ON TO THE THE LIGHT

"Holding on to the the Light" (8-10-16 001v2a) is a very new pic, just fudged with now. Lots of fussing to get it to this point. If I had time, I might fuss even more. But I'm in a rush and I do like it's overall effect quite a lot. So I'm posting it even though it isn't really "complete." A particular shape within it is bothering me a little bit. Maybe I'll be able to do something about it at a later date, maybe not. This pic just might be another example of what I read somewhere, ages ago, that any art work is ultimately a flawed gem. (If I may be so bold as to use both the words "art" and "gem" near my own efforts. Smile.)

STAND BY ME

I've posted other pix of the tree on the left. I love to watch it tossing in the wind, against that sky. (This pic of it, "Stand by Me" [8-10-16 007v2] is very new and just fixed up a bit today. Didn't do a whole lot to it: cropping, color saturation, and a little diffusing and sharpening.) I was playing my didjeridu by the pool and looked up. Well, down went the didj and out came the camera. What's more interesting is that I recalled that a didj is traditionally made from the branch of a eucalyptus tree ... which is what I'm told that tree is. Smile. (However, my didj is made from the stem of a Sonoran Desert agave plant. I once had a eucalyptus didj. It weighed a ton and didn't have anywhere near as wonderful a tone as my agave one. Though I hasten to add that I've owned several didj's over the years, made from things as different as PVC pipe, glass, and bamboo, and each has had its unique tone and quirks.)

MAKING WAY

"Making Way" (8-10-16 013v2) is a new pic, just worked on now. Hey, I gave you a heads up a few days ago that more fern pix would most likely be on the way. This fave fern of mine is now just beginning to put up new branches. You can just barely see the little furled head of one where the two bright yellow green branches bend away from it, near the bottom edge in the middle of the pic.

SUNDIAL

"Sundial" (7-8-16 001v5) is rather new, and just "finished" today. That title is meant to be ironic, as a sundial (barely visible near the roof of that theatre) can't be read at night (the way I've fudged with this shot to sort of appear). Mostly I like the lines/angles and contrasts in this shot, and have several versions of it.

THE AWAKENING

"The Awakening" (11-29-09 8391ev2) was just morphed from another really old version of one of my even older pix. What to say? I'm all too readily seduced by the effects of color inversion on wide open flower centers. Love that sort of jumping out, glowing effect. Then the challenge is to find the right color combinations, texture, crop, etc. I actually made a differently colored and textured version of this same pic this morning, but kept coming back to this older one. Sometimes one simply shouldn't try to fix what ain't broke!

EYE ON THE MOUNTAIN

"Eye on the Mountain" (11-29-09 8391v4) was just morphed now from one of my oldest pix. What else can I possibly say about it, as it's clearly been massively fudged with in Photoshop (and MS Picture Manager). And given my mood right now anything I might add would be greatly suspect: can we spell "ticked off," children? Not at the pic work I've been doing this morning, but elsewhere. Stuff that kept getting more and more confused when it should have been so clear. Well, at least it was clear to me if not to the other person. Just like this abstract. Clear to me! Big Wry Smile.
