THE SKY'S THE LIMIT

The Sky's the Limit (8-20-09), yup, another very old photo just re-worked this morning. Along with another version of it that I just posted to my dreams & poetry blog. Nothing much to say about it except that the title is intended sardonically, which comes from the darkness of the photo itself. Oh, and what would one of my posts here be without an apologia of some sort... I didn't notice until I'd uploaded both of these pix to blogger that there's a central "line" created by shapes and lines (in this one it's horizontal) that I now find a bit distracting. So be it. I'm not up to fussing with other pix to post.

FOLLOWING THE THREAD; THE WEAVING; & TRYING THE LONG VIEW

Following the Thread (7-31-09) above is from another very old folder of pix. I just followed my nose and wound up here.

Here's the same picture with further fussing, The Weaving (7-31-09):

And here's another version, Trying the Long View:

HALLOWEEN HOWL; MAW OF WINTER; & BALANCING THE LOAD

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I view this holiday primarily as a New Year celebration, in the ancient Celtic tradition of Samhain (said "sow'-in" if I recall). However, I wish I had the energy to do up the all black witch costume I have in mind (I'd leave my long white hair loose and un-styled, a frightening sight by itself). But then that would also mean actually going to the party here in our retirement community. And that I really don't have the oomph for, especially my joints which are not at all that pleased by the change of season. Anyway the above photo is a re-visioning of another very old picture and is called Halloween Howl (7-11-09).

This one below is called Maw of Winter (7-11-09) and is the same photo with another filter applied and colors inverted. I think it's a more "successful" effort than "Halloween Howl," even as it rushes the seasons.

And both of the above were made using this version below, Balancing the Load (7-11-09), just posted yesterday to my dreams & poetry blog:

SEEKING SLEEPY BEAUTY

Seeking Sleeping Beauty is from (yes, again) another really old folder; some of my very oldest in fact. Another I was not able to reclaim in any really viable way so went "abstract" with. No great shakes, but as I often say there's something about it I like enough to share here.

PRISONERS OF PERCEPTION

Prisoners of Perception (7-31-09), yes, another very old photo and a rather experimental version thereof. But I did at least just open a folder at random, instead of going back to those couple in which I've become overly fond of working. This wasn't even taken with the usual camera I was using back then. I'd not yet gotten in the habit of packing my camera in my purse and had to borrow my friend's. I'm rather glad I stumbled on this folder of pix because they have a much higher pixel count than either of the other cameras I've worked with. It's good to be reminded of the advantages to that in clarity and when doing a lot of cropping and Photoshopping. It's reminded me of the primary reason to get a better camera than my current 10.2 mp. Or at least get used to the ways of an old camera that same friend gave me, which takes higher pixel count pix. I could blame it on age (my 70th is coming in January) but it's probably just my basic lazy nature. I don't want to fuss with technical things. I just want to take and fool with the pix. And so I have folders of pix that don't ever quite work (except maybe sometimes as "abstracts") and might have if taken with a higher pixel count camera.
