CURLICUE; & EGG OF WINTER

Curlicue (11-19-09 8258e) is from that three year-old folder of my pix I just recently stumbled upon again. Both these pix were "re-visioned" today.

The photo below, Egg of Winter (11-19-09 8258ev2) is another version of the same pic:

ROTA FORTUNAE

Rota Fortunae (11-19-09 8259v3) is a very old pic just re-worked this morning. I'm delighted I stumbled into this folder of pix as there are many fabulous rose centers there just waiting to be fussed with and/or cleaned up in some way.

IRRUPTION

I recently posted Irruption (7-17-10 10004ev5) to my dreams & poetry blog. Then had it up on my desktop for some time, too. I think it's the combination of the shapes and color that grabs me. So now it's posted here as well. BTW, it's from an old photo and is one among many versions I've made from the original. I really enjoy playing with what those "drippy" petals suggest. I've seen many, many blossoms like this one in many different stages, but never one again like this. Yes, those draping petals were on the actual bloom, they're not from Photoshop.

If you'd like to see two earlier versions of "Irruption,"click here for "Goth Wedding" and click here for "Primordial Crater."

SUMMONING THE ROSE

Summoning the Rose (5-1-13 12644ev2) was another photo taken on May Day this year. I've been fussing around in that folder this morning for some time and this one comes closest to pleasing me. Probably mostly due to its colors. But as I've said before here I'm beginning to bore myself relying on the same range of editing functions in Photoshop (even given I combine and re-combine them like crazy). It's long past time to go to the effort of experimenting with some new ones. It's not like there aren't a slew of them available, even on the "lite" version I have of this program. Maybe I'll trundle further around Photoshop once I get my new blog started. (Yeah, another one, for a Tarot deck I've begun designing. Go figure. I already have two others in the works.)

SIDEWALK COMMENTATORS

Sidewalk Commentators (5-1-13 12673e) was taken this May Day. It's in a folder of problematic pix I keep trying to make something of, with little success. I tried again this morning on several of them and finally gave up after getting these results with this pic. It's another one that inspires my ambivalence. I like what most folk might call its quirky composition. However, so? Is that pretty pink enough to carry the pic? Do the benches without their feet distract? Is that bottom area too messy? (I know I'm too ambivalent to do any further clean up on it than I've already done.) Ah well, here it is, rhetorical questions and all.

PAINTING WITH PETALS

Painting with Petals (7-17-10 10002ev2), is from that same old folder of pix I've been working in a lot recently. Just in case it's not obvious, I haven't felt the urge to take any new ones, so I'm rather grateful for the slew of old folders I have hanging around. When I work on pix in one of them it also gives me the opportunity to clean it out. In the years since taking them my photographic eye has evolved (hopefully for the better) and I actually do delete some. Unfortunately, many times not before I fuss and fudge in an attempt to make something out of the poor things. I guess I should be encouraged that my memory is still good enough to recall what originally drew me to take those shots. (I turn 70 in less than a month.) It's just that this very thing makes for numerous old folders of photos crowding my computer drive. I don't want to give up on those initial "visions."
