SINANN STIRRING; & AURORA RISING

Sinann Stirring (5-13-10 10007v2), above, is from a very old photo just re-visioned today. Sinann is a Celtic Goddess of the River Shannon. (I've recently started a hefty Jungian study that's based in Celtic mythology.)

And since once again I was not able to keep from further exploration, I made another version (immediately above) in warmer colors. I was curious to see how that change would effect the feel of the pic. It's called Aurora Rising (5-13-10 10007v3), and She's more familiar to me, a Roman Goddess of the dawn.

BTW, this sleeping/dreaming clay head used to be in a garden on our grounds. I've photos of it salted throughout my folders taken in various lights and with different plants and other objects around it. She was always a tough subject. Still is whenever I stumble across one of the photos and work on it again.

MOVING TOWARD MAUVE; SUNSET MUSIC; & FUCSHIA FLIGHT

Moving Toward Mauve (8-30-09 6217ev5) is from one of my oldest pix just fudged with today. And here below is the unfussed with photo Sunset Music (as posted today to my dreams & poetry blog):

And last below is another version of this same photo from this morning's frustrating computer session, Fuchsia Flight (8-30-09 6217ev6):

Don't know why I keep wanting to "improve" on what my camera manages to actually capture of nature's beauty. Maybe it's a form of creative envy, and that's only partly a joke.

WINDING DOWN; & ENTROPIC

Winding Down (1-29-14 006v6), above, is from that same new folder of pix I posted from yesterday, but just worked on this morning. I'm still trying to produce a version of any one of this folder's pix that reveals what I see in that table top pattern. But at least "Winding Down" and Entropic (1-29-14 006v3), below, both come close. "Entropic" maybe slightly closer.

WINTER TABLEAU; & HOTHOUSE ROSE

Winter Tableau  (1-29-14 005v2), above, is among several pix I took of this rose yesterday morning. My first pix in ages. Just could not resist the blossom or it's bottle, or those table surface patterns when I stumbled across them. Luckily, even though I go through periods of not taking any photos, I still always have my camera in my purse. Well, "luckily" because it was fun snapping at this table, not because I got such great shots. Most weren't. But I am content with this one. And now to prove what I've said before that I can never leave anything well enough alone, here's a fussed with version of a different shot of that same tableau, Hothouse Rose (1-29-14 003v2):

SHIELD OF PERSEUS; & IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE

More fooling around in Photoshop with old pix yesterday, resulting in Shield of Perseus (8-5-09 5006v5) above, and In the Blink of An Eye below. Both of which are from the same original photo, morphed totally beyond any recognition.

Why such a thorough morphing? I just wanted to see where I could go with it. It seems not to any fabulous place but it was a fun trip nevertheless.

BURNED IN MEMORY

Burned in Memory (2-7-10 19445v2) is yet again an old photo, just re-visioned yesterday. (Wonder when I'll feel like taking new pix?) It's from the days when I could still take long walks. And this particular scene used to grab my attention every time I passed by. It morphed depending on the weather and time of day more than most things do. But it always held an echo of something mythic or archetypal.

STAFF NOTE

Staff Note, as usual these days, is an old photo. It's been in this cropped version for a long time, but needed some cleaning up which I finally did today. I love calla lilies, especially these little ones as they unfurl. Once I clean up some other pix I have of this bloom I'll post them, too. With other sorts of flowers a slightly busy background is less of a problem, less distracting. But these have such clean, spare lines that any distraction around them is jangling, at least to my eye. So the pix I take of them almost always require more cleaning up in the Paint program than those of other blossoms. (And actually the bigger problem with cleaning pix has become the discrepancy between color on blogger, and color as it appears in all other programs I view a pic in. I had to re-do the painting out on this photo three times, and I can still see some faint residue of what I painted out, but only in the blogger view.)
