HAVING A BALL!

"Having A Ball!" (9-23-12 12150v5a) is (big surprise) made out of an old photo found again during my on-going archiving/deleting project. It's been through a few stages this week, and I finally arrived at the above version this morning. Very happily, I might add. I'm a sucker for bright colors and can't usually find any aesthetic reason to keep them when they pop up in a photo's process. But this one, well, to my delight, it just works these colors, all over the place. I hasten to add that doesn't mean I think it's a perfect pic. I'm pretty sure that, as usual, once I've lived with it a while I'll find something at which to pick. However, right now, I'm really enjoying it.

MOUNTAIN SUMMER

"Mountain Summer" (9-23-12 12152v9) is a recent morphing -- with some further tweaking this morning -- of an old pic unearthed during my archiving/deleting project. As with so many of my pix I liked it more on first sighting it again. By the time I'd tweaked it today (bits of color saturation and sharpening) and determined a title, it had lost some of its "luster." However, it still puts me happily in mind of looking at the distant mountains one can see from our retirement community's front entrance.

MAPPING THE ROSE

"Mapping the Rose" (10-26-12 12216v2a) is today's morphing of another of my archiving/deleting project finds. I don't often use this "glowing lines" filter these days. Though it does sometimes underlie a lot of other filters in morphed pix of mine, I've become sort of habituated to its effect when obvious. However, I like how detailed it is in this pic, almost lacy (largely due to previous filters applied). And the range of colors I was able to bring out in the lines with some more fussing is also pleasing to me. BTW, there is additional work I did on it, such as slight blurring, and cropping. Upshot? My map to an abstract rose center.

THE CALL OUT

"The Call Out" (10-26-12 12223e) is another of those pix dug up during my archiving/deleting project. I have a slew of older square abstract versions that play around with those lovely ruffles, in all sorts of color combinations and textures. Plenty of which have not been posted. But was drawn to this straight forward shot today. I re-cropped it a bit this morning, painted out some tiny distractions, ever so slightly sharpened it, and color saturated it a wee bit. Resulting in a call I'm happy to answer to by posting.

FIRE AT THE GATE

"Fire at the Gate" (7-12-15 002v2a) is a brand new photo and version thereof. It's been heavily cropped (the source pic was taken from a second floor balcony, on the other side of a pool). And I also had to paint out a few niggling distractions, increase the contrasts a little, and sharpen it a wee bit. It was the contrast of those canna lilies to their surround that I'd been hoping to capture when I took the shot, so I'm content (if not overjoyed) with this pic.

SHADOW FALLOUT

"Shadow Fallout" (7-12-15 004v9) was just morphed today from a brand new pic. Another of my favorite views and shots: palm fronds. I have several versions already (including an uninspiring realistic one). To be honest, I've been looking at all of them so long by now I'm really not sure which I'm OK with and which I'm not. But, hey, I had fun working on them all.

FERNTABULOUS!

"Ferntabulous!" is a morph recently made from a fairly new pic, and tweaked a little more this morning. (Meaning I cropped it a wee bit more, heightened the yellows a tiny bit, and then sharpened it ever so slightly.) That title might be overstating the case for any viewer, but not for me. I get such delight from these sorts of fern patterns. Especially this particular fern's as I have rather good access to it. It grows on the side of our promenade so I can get in much closer and at somewhat varying angles to photograph it, better than I can with many ferns I come across on or near our grounds.
