START HERE

"Start Here" (9-15-18 003v2) was just snapped today on a long walk, in a direction I don't often go. I've been wanting to get pix of the long mural for a while and finally struggled to do so today. (If you want to see another section of this same mural, click here.) Given my mobility challenges it was a good bit of exercise for me. I don't feel safe going out into the street, which would be the best place to get good shots of the sections of this lengthy mural. So I hobbled along, getting on and off the grass at curbside, alternately hauling and leaning on my walker along the sidewalk as I did so. It was still great fun. And a lovely day to be out and about doing anything at all. :-)

SUMMER'S LAST DANCER

"Summer's Last Dancer" (10-22-09 7717v5), yeah, I'm stuck in a really old folder of pix again. But it's such fun to see where I can take old pix and versions thereof! Anyway, this was originally portrait orientation. But I began to see a little figure dancing and so flipped it to landscape to bring that out. Not much time or I'd have quite a bit more to say about this silly pic. Betch yer happy yah got to dodge the bullet fer once! :-)

TAKING THE BAIT

"Taking the Bait" (10-22-09 7717v3d) was morphed many years ago, and just now fussed with all over again. Nothing much else to say about it as it's obviously been heavily PhotoShopped (and messed with in a couple of other programs I work in). I can barely remember what functions are beneath the changes I made today, much less all those years ago! I can make "educated" (sic: based on what I often do) guesses, but that's about it. I will add that I was looking for a different, very old pic of mine when I happily stumbled on what I ultimately tortured into this pic.

RIGHT THIS WAY ...

"Right This Way ..." (9-12-18 008v2) was just taken and fussed with today. Not a whole lot of fussing, actually. Mostly color adjustment, getting the right crop, and a wee bit of diffusing and sharpening. (The "biggest" change, if you will, that I made, was to tone down that car; it was a shiny silver and rather distracting.) I have other shots, taken from other angles and distances. But so far think this may be the only one worth posting. If this tree is familiar, it's because I posted an earlier pic of it, that I snapped standing on the other side of it. Just scroll down to the day before yesterday if you want to see it. I like that earlier one better as it captures more of the intricacies of the branches. Next time I go by this tree, think I'll try shots from the other side of the street.

WILLOW TALK

"Willow Talk" (8-17-18 008v4) was morphed a couple weeks ago from a fairly new pic of mine. I've been somewhat happy with it all along but found myself going elsewhere for stuff to work on and post. Not sure what my hesitation was back those weeks ago when it first popped on my screen, because I'm rather content with it today. Maybe those very, very tiny lined up bits that indicate an overly diffused pic in two places, but they are so slight I never even notice them 'til I've been staring at the pic for some time ... I can hope they aren't really noticeable ... can't I? :-D BTW, this was fudged out of a pic of my favorite trees of all here in CA: two willows I often pass, and one or another of which I frequently sit beneath. It was actually what I call a "throw-away shot." I.e., I took it in a hurry, literally over my shoulder as I turned a corner to go shopping. It was just such a charming sight when I looked back that I couldn't resist, even as I hobbled on.
