WRITING ON THE WALL

"Writing on the Wall" (5-16-11 10955v2) is an old crop of a five year old pic, just now fixed up some. I did a little diffusing, sharpening, slight color saturation, adjusting of a distracting color in one spot in the shadows, and painting out of some tiny annoying spots. I also adjusted the color curves/shadows slightly to bring out the shadows and the texture of the tree bark a bit more. This is another pic I'm puzzled I've not worked on to post before. Guess it's just another that got lost in the slew of pix I have hanging fire at any particular time. I'll probably come across a note about it down the road a piece and be surprised when I realize it's already been posted. A not infrequent occurrence.

AROUND THE NEXT CURVE

"Around the Next Curve" (9-2-16 003) is a very new pic, just fixed up a bit this morning. I have several shots of this patio, most making the canopy a larger portion of the photo. And it was the canopy and its shadows that drew me to take pix to begin with. But this shot is the only one that comes close to being ready to post. I actually think I'm being overly fussy this morning but still can't bring myself to post a pic that bugs me. At least not in this fuss budget mood. Even if it also captures something I'd been hoping to get, as a couple of the other shots do better than this one.

LIQUID FIRE

"Liquid Fire" (8-2-10 10007v2a) was just morphed from a very old pic version that I had to crop a little bit. I have it in its natural sunflower colors (on black background), but was tickled when changing the hues did some interesting things. Then I felt curious about further fudging with the colors, resulting in what you see here. I also did some diffusing and sharpening.

AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW

"At the End of the Rainbow" (8-2-10 10004v2) has been hanging around for about six years. I finally fixed it up to my satisfaction this morning. Really didn't have to do a lot to it once I had a crop and rotation I could live with. (Those center cup-like petals add a different visual heft to whichever way the picture is rotated. It was a challenge to find a comfortable rotation.) I then just did some color adjustment to move it more toward a goldish yellow, sharpened it a little bit, and then cleaned out some tiny distracting spots. Though I have to admit I'm still not fully happy with the crop. I've tried many different crops, even a vertical rectangle. But that lightened the visual weight of this pot of gold, which I don't want. So I'm relatively content with it as is.

AGAPANTHUS DREAM

"Agapanthus Dream" (5-24-10 10001v9) is a very old version of a very old photo. I may very well have posted this here already, but if so it was many years ago. My record keeping system has improved over the years. However, pix and whether I've already used them, still slip between the cracks. I came across it while selecting for my next photo exhibit/sale (set for early October). That selection process is as simple and as time consuming as going through every single folder of photos I have (altogether holding about 12,000). This also affords me the opportunity to delete pix I can't see ever using/editing. Which relieves the burden on my poor computer. I've got a good quad core, but even it has its limits. :-)

MAGENTA RULES!

"Magenta Rules!" (9-3-10 10004v2) is from a very old photo version that I finally managed to fix up to my (mostly) satisfaction a day or so ago. I would probably have given up on it long since but that color (and those ruffles) simply would not let me. Love it.

TEARS FROM THE SUN

"Tears From the Sun" (5-18-11 10994v6) is an old version of a very old pic of mine. I have several versions from the original. There's something I so like about that folded over calla leaf with the rain drops on it.
