IN THE WAKE OF THE FLYING DUTCHMAN

"In the Wake of the Flying Dutchman" (1-19-11 10437v9b) was just morphed today from one of the unposted versions of the pic I put up yesterday. Not only has it been vastly cropped, but also re-worked. What can I say? Some photos just grab my attention and imagination and won't let go. Until a new pic (or recently re-discovered old one) does the same thing. Smile.

THE PERSISTENCE OF JOY; & HALLELUJAH CHORUS

The source photo for both pix today is several years old, but just morphed into these versions today, along with several more. Among others, I used that filter I just tried for the first time yesterday, with very different results given the different pic to which it was applied. "The Persistence of Joy" (1-19-15 v8h) above & "Hallelujah Chorus" (1-19-15 v8a) below are far lighter in mood than the other versions. Which is surprising given my very dark mood today. But despite my mood I find I really like them. And lest I blather on and forget, here's "Hallelujah Chorus" --

FLASH FLOOD

The distorted shapes in "Flash Flood" (9-13-10 10006v6) are the result of a flash trial of a new Photoshop filter. I didn't have much time left to fool around but gave it a quick try and like the results. It was such a fast effort just before I shut down my computer for the day yesterday that I couldn't even remember the name of the filter when I went to type it here today. Then it took me a while to find it in Photoshop because it has such an odd name for what it does that I kept passing it by. "Polarize coordinates" offers two distinctly different options. I look forward to experimenting more with both of them. BTW, much more was done to "Flash Flood" than using polarize coordinates, but it was its results that made me sit up and make a written note of this photomorph.

MANY ANGLES, ONE LIGHT; & THE FROST NEXT TIME

The source pic for "Many Angles, One Light" (9-13-10 10045v2) is from that same old batch of pix yesterday's are from. Of the same batch of palm fronds. But I did nothing to this one today other than to crop it. Then I spent a long time this morning playing around with those lovely patterns in Photoshop and came up with "The Frost Next Time" (9-13-10 10045v6):

When I say "play around" I do not mean I fudged with those lines and shapes. Those are from the source pic. Though I clearly used a slew of both texture and color filters, further cropped it, and turned it 90 degrees to the left.

SWORD PLAY

The source pic for "Sword Play" (9-13-10 10047v2a) is almost four years old. I've fooled around with it over those years but was never really satisfied with the results. (Though I believe I may have posted one or two versions years ago on my other blog.) I never considered deleting it, however, as I so enjoy looking at those palm frond shadow patterns. Well, this morning I finally tried inverting the colors on an old black and white version, and voila! Really liked that effect, but it needed a wee bit of color ... somehow this vaguely goldish warm hue pleased me most. BTW, I have tons of new pix since I've started being able to take longer walks. But for some reason I'm equally drawn to these older ones I've been working on and posting.

AGAPANTHUS DREAMING; & CALLING TO THE MOON

"Agapanthus Dreaming" (5-24-10 10001v11c) was recently morphed out of a five year old photo. I rediscovered the source pic earlier during my on-going archiving/deleting project. It's one of those many pix that have generated a lot of different crops and versions thereof. Here's another, "Calling to the Moon" (5-24-10 10001v9):

The source pic is also one of those that even in it's cropped and fussed with versions presents me with problems I can't quite work out. But I enjoy the pic and it's offspring so much, I live with the little visual glitches.
