EVENING STARS

This particular shot of these Painted Ladies blossoms was a delight to stumble across in looking for a pic to re-post here. If I recall correctly (all my pix are on my external drive, still awaiting loading to this new 'puter) the only shot I still have in a pic folder is a much poorer one. One with less clarity of detail and more distracting white blooming of the bright pink color. I knew there was one other shot I'd had better luck with, taken in the early evening, but somehow "lost" it from my pic files. And here 'tis! I'm itching to work on it a little bit once I've got things set up again to edit my pix. Those whitish areas could probably be toned down a little without it messing with the over all impression of the image. There are also a few wee bits of clean-up I would like to do. But it's still a happy moment to find a "lost" photo.

MATINS (Posted In Loving Memory of Inger)

"Matins" (in a 2012 folder, or earlier) is shared in loving memory of a friend, Inger, who passed away just a few days ago. I will remember her for many things about her. But most of all how she'd challenge me laughingly to sing old songs with her if I could recall the lyrics. We'd do this singing after dinner, still at the table. Surprisingly, I never wondered how other diners and chatters felt about this soft but definite singing. And not one of our many rather outspoken, opinionated neighbors in this community ever objected. :-)

It's tremendously sad to lose her, but I am grateful she's out of pain.

THE END

"The End" (2013 or earlier) is another re-post, but from my dreams&poetry blog this time. (It may have been posted here at some time, but it's not a common practice of mine to post a pic to both blogs.) This log was (and probably still is) on Stearn's Wharf. I took many pix of it "back in the day" as I found it fascinating. Still do. Sorry 'bout that pun in the pic title. :-) I'd suggest clicking on the image for a larger version, in order to see the details, especially of the log's whorls.

THE LITTLE MERMAID

Re-post: "THE LITTLE MERMAID DREAMS [2012 folder, or earlier] was taken over two years ago [now over 8 years ago] with a loaner camera. I've done extensive cropping and a wee bit of fooling around to soften and brighten the colors. However, this resultant version does pretty much echo what was a beautiful sunset, just before a huge full moon. For those of you familiar with the area, those are the Channel Islands on the horizon, seen from Goleta Beach." Coming across this old pic today reminded me of a quote by Stendahl: Beauty is a promise of happiness. Sigh. Not that my pic is all that beautiful, but it does call up the memory of a sunset that was exceptionally so.
