A Painter's Perquisite is a re-working just done today of a new photo. I'm clearly stuck on my preference for lavender/blue right now. Ah, well, what's wrong with enjoying myself a bit? (That seems to be a theme. It cropped up in a dream recently.) I do like the original color of this rose -- a very pale pink -- but it seemed to want to go somewhere else (pardon all this personification), to fly off into some other realm. So, I obliged it in this version. I also like the shapes those petals make against the background. But in the original color they look rather more ragged than about to take off in flight.

The original for Moonlight & Roses is several months old and just re-worked today. I posted a different rose view with similar colors and feel a while ago here. (This rose, however, echos the moon in its roundness.) Seems I'm feeling a need to dip in that same visual well yet again. A rather sentimental dip, as implied by the title to this photo of a song about memories.

For a change of pace, A Morning's Cuppa (above), is a nearly straightforward shot. All I did to it was crop in close, ever so slightly saturate the colors to bring out that little warm glow, and "paint" out two tiny distracting bright spots among the leaves. (By the way, both photos posted today were taken a week ago among the last of our roses for this year.)

Earth Dragon Rising (immediately above), well, what can or should I say about this one? Rather typical of my usual inclination when editing flower center pictures. It's another of those that I'm sure I'll go back to the original for and try again. In "Earth Dragon Rising" I was trying to further bring out the contrast among those intriguing shapes (also my usual tendency when editing).

Hanging On is a very old photo, just re-worked today. To me, it vaguely suggests an impressionist painting ... I can hope, can't I?

Both Sleeping Beauty's Garden (above) and Spine Tingling (below) are brand new edits of new photos. I'm not all that enamored of either of them. But as I always say after saying that, there's still something about each the draws me. Maybe I'll re-edit their originals at some future date and see if I can't get closer to whatever it is that calls to me from each of them.
