ANOTHER AUTUMN

"Another Autumn" (9-17-17 030v4) was just further fussed at a bit from a somewhat earlier version of a fairly new pic. I've posted other versions of this same pic here already. And will probably have more once I take more pix of this tree -- in Anisqoyo Park of Isla Vista. Almost snapped new ones yesterday. But I was thrown off kilter by the fact I'd noted someone had actually "dared" to sit in my favorite spot -- which is just a couple yards from this tree. I'd better get used to that happening, though, as the fall/winter UCSB term is well under way and Isla Vista is full to over flowing again with students and cars and bikes and skateboards.

AGAINST THE TIDE

"Against the Tide" (9-27-17 0025va) was just morphed from a very new pic. One can just make out a bird of paradise, seemingly growing/pointing/swimming in the opposite direction of the surrounding "sea" of leaves. Lots of fudging done to this one in Photoshop before I was at least mostly content with it. That I had at least somewhat brought out that "swimming against the tide" feeling the original scene gave me. Right now I have three additional more natural colored/textured versions of this same pic. But don't like them anywhere near as much. However, who knows how many other versions I may yet torture out of this pic. :-)

DREAMING OF AUTUMN

"Dreaming of Autumn" (9-5-17 005v5) was just fussed from its rather new original pic. Yeah, I'm stuck in fall gear, ain't I? If I had a fave season this one just might be it. If only for the colors. I know, I know this photo's original colors couldn't be more different. They are the usual greens and almost yellows. And it was, of course, a day shot. But honestly! Yes, honestly! I didn't set out to torture a fall-feeling pic out of this jacaranda. It just sort happened as I edited. The way things often do. I just keep thinking, OK, that's nice, but what would it look like if.... and I'm off haring after some other effect. In this case, at one point I inverted the colors and up flashed some delightful reds. And I was a goner, fall it was for the rest of the editing/refining process ... and is now. :-)

FALL WILL OUT; & LIGHTING UP THE NIGHT

What to say about "Fall Will Out" (9-17-17 020v4)? It's obviously been heavily fudged with in Photoshop (and a wee bit in Microsoft Picture Manager). Not only do I love the warm colors of fall, but cannas in bloom always grab my attention. BTW, it's one of those pix that looks better in a larger version. But not because of details necessarily, but simply it's overall impact. Can't explain it better than that. So, if you're so inclined, just click on the image for a larger version. Oh, and here's another way I edited this same pic that I like almost as much that I'm calling "Lighting Up the Night" (9-17-17 020v3):

Both have a sort of "fairy land" feel to them for me, which I enjoy. Even the original live scene gave me that feeling.

AUTUMN GLORY

"Autumn Glory" was just fudged (a little bit) out of an old version of, yes, an even older pic. I love this color. I have fond memories of the trees in upper New York State (I'm from New York City and have only been living in CA 10 years) in full fall glory. When I was a kid my father would pack us (mother and two kids) into the car and take us on the most fabulous long fall drive to view the leaves. I have many other memories of looking out the train window (the tracks run alongside the Hudson River a great deal of the way north) as an adult traveling on my own, and ooohing and aaahing at the autumn trees. Yes, there are also reds and yellows and nearly deep maroon colors on fall trees. But the deep orange in this photo is the one that plucks at my heartstrings ... at some specific memory I've never quite recalled, only deeply feel.
