WHEN LEOPARD'S CHANGE THEIR SPOTS

"When Leopard's Change Their Spots" (1-30-17 015v2h) was just morphed now from a rather new pic. Had a devil of a time deciding on which to post of the many versions I made this morning from the original. Each would quickly appeal to me and then as quickly become way too problematic for me to feel like posting. As for this one, I do like it most, but feel it's rather too much like others in this vein I've made in the past. (I.e, in style: relying heavily on the glowing edges filter for its effect.) But, hey, what's wrong with the familiar? Not a thing, ultimately. So, here 'tis, with the wish, though, that leopard's could occasionally thoroughly morph their spots. (BTW, I wish that as much for my own nature as anyone else's, maybe even more so.)

HOVERING

"Hovering" (2-13-17 022v2) was fussed into shape a couple days ago from a brand new pic. Sadly, I won't get to see this view (fogged in or not) for a while, as we're due to have five days in a row of rain. So, no long walks to the beach overlook where I took this pic and spend several days a week writing, snapping pix, and sometimes just wool gathering or playing my walking stick flute or chatting with a friend. But mostly, I'll miss the long walk there and back. That walk's become as central to most of my days as working every day on pix and posting them here, and writing and posting a poem on my dreams&poetry blog. Ah well, I'll find some way to amuse my little child inside whose already pouting at the thought of not being able to go out and play today. When I was much younger, I used to love to walk in the rain. I'd just put on my rain slicker and off I'd go. But it's not something I can handle now with a walker (with my walking stick on board, as well). And forget squishy shoes! BTW, this is one of those pix that looks better in a larger version, so if you're interested, just click on the pic. (Those are the Channel Islands just barely peeking through the fog on the horizon.)

SUNSET, CHRYSLER BUILDING MANHATTAN, N.Y.C.

"Sunset, Chrysler Building, Manhattan, N.Y.C." (2-13-17 021v2c) was just morphed yesterday from a brand new pic, and picked at a wee bit this morning. I did not set out to morph a pic of Manhattan, or even buildings or skyline. But I have been thinking a lot more than usual about my life long home town of New York City so it's not surprising that I'd see Manhattan's Chrysler building (tall central shape) in this abstract. There's very little I miss about New York City other than it's fabulous, multi-leveled poetry community. But it does house all of my memories, except for those of these last 9 years in CA, so it comes up regularly in my thoughts. Although I resided only very few of my 60+ years there in NYC, in the borough of Manhattan, it was pretty much where I spent most of my time. That island was (and still is, of course) the "go to" place for work and entertainment. Manhattan's Chrysler building is only a block from where I worked during my last several years in NYC, which is right across from the famous Grand Central Station. And there were many other times during my 46 working years that I had employment near the Chrysler building, though don't recall ever having employment in it. I always thought it was exceptionally visually pleasing:

Of the many pix I just viewed online, the above pic comes closest to how I was used to seeing the Chrysler building every weekday morning, as I left Grand Central Station, headed to what turned out to be the last job I had in New York.

AFTER THE STORMS

"After the Storms" (2-13-17 006v2a) was taken right after days of storms. (It continued to clear, though it took until later that day to get there; this was taken late morning.) I've posted other pix of this view but so far this is the best, IMHO. Those dark trees on the left are always a problem. But to cut them out changes how that (would it be called a) headland fits into the rest of the pic. It also loses an important (to me) visual referent for the sort of open embrace of the dry land. (Hope that made sense.) The tide is also rarely so low at late-morning. And, of course, the sun often interferes with any sort of shot in this general direction (in any direction toward the sea). But being a foggy day it simply gave the clouds a nice fuzzy lightness. Then again, now that I've been staring at this pic to write about it here, I'm having doubts about it. Well, suffice it to say, I still very much like the feeling it gives off. Despite anything else I may now be questioning.

MOSAICO DEL MAR

"Mosaico del Mar" (2-13-17 009v3a) was just morphed from a brand new pic. I'd recommend clicking on the above image as there's a lot of detail. Had a good time fooling with various effects. Kinda, sorta like this vaguely mosaic-cum-pointillist look. I have another version that's also somewhat in the impressionistic vein. (My favorite period of painting is the impressionists. Although I do not ever start out attempting to mimic those famous artists' styles, they clearly eventually influence my choices at times.) Then, to see the unfudged with view of this pic, click here for this morning's post on my dreams&poetry blog. And last, but most certainly not least, ♥♥ HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY ♥♥.

PARADISE WAY

"Paradise Way" (2-6-17 005v7) is a very new pic just fussed into presentable shape today. I often walk to the beach overlook past this long stretch of birds of paradise plants. The time of day I take the walk is not optimal for snapping pix (angle and intensity of sun), so I was surprised this one came out as well as it did. Not only that, but I barely had to crop it (mostly just to fit the pre-set dimensions that the online printer I use requires, should I want prints), intensified the colors only a wee bit, and painted out some tiny background distractions. It's a bit busy compositionally, but I like that in this pic for some reason. Maybe because that's the feeling I get as I roll by these plants with my walker: things are abuzz and proudly seeking careful attention without admitting to it (smile).
