TWISTING THROUGH TIME

"Twisting Through Time" (1-18-18 001v4) is another relatively recent photo that I haven't even fussed with to post today. I did try to figure out how to resize it as that's something I lost when I switched to my new 'puter. There should be a way to resize without cropping in both Windows Photos and GIMP but can't find one. And I can't tell you how many sites I've gone to have those terms totally confused. Even this old lady who does most of her editing flying by the seat of her pants, knows resizing and cropping are very different! Anyway, I finally bit the bullet and waited while this very big photo file loaded to blogger for posting. If I'd been able to resize, it would have been a quick process. And would also then allow for posting to my desk top. But now I have to go through another process involving a re-sized screen shot if I want to have it on my desk top without it running into my icons. Ah well, these should be the worse problems I (or anyone else) have in this life, ey? BTW, I adore this twisty old tree and haven't been able to take the long walk to see and photograph it. Hope that will happen with warmer weather and eased joint pain.

WINTER'S LAST LAUGH

"Winter's Last Laugh" (11-20-19 v6[3]) is a fairly recent pic. By that I mean, not taken years but only months ago. And I just fussed at it extensively this morning. Still not setting myself to the task of learning GIMP, though. These old brains are a bit too challenged right now by other things. So settled for what I could do in the rather limited Windows 10 Photos program. Which I was delighted to discover as I was fooling around, has a few other options for color and contrast manipulation I had not yet stumbled across.

ALL PRAISE TO THE WINTER SUN

"All Praise to the Winter Sun" (4-13-18 008v3[2]) is kinda weak, just like the winter sun. Not much of a pic, I'd say. But nothing else I've attempted today is any good. And there is that about this one I actually like. I just can't get the contrasts to suit me. So I'm leaving it as is.

ENCHROACHMENT

"Enchroachment" (12-23-14 012v3) is an old version of a very old pic of mine that I just fussed with a wee bit in Windows 10's Photos program. Turned it 180 degrees, and brightened and sharpened it a very tiny bit. Tried inverting the colors in GIMP but that didn't do a thing for me. BTW, color inversion is one of the few functions/filters I'm able to apply so far in GIMP. It's a complicated program. Not sure if it's actually harder to learn than Photoshop, or if I'm just getting too old for this sort of nonsense. And I mean that word "nonsense" in a literal way: computer coding, terminology, rationale, all of the tech stuff (and all of it is tech stuff), has always been rather beyond me, as if I'm being babbled at. Back to this pic: I look forward to these ferns opening again now as the weather warms. I don't know if I like looking at them more, or taking pix of them.

THE FLOATING WORLD

I don't think of "The Floating World" (8-7-14 006v2) as any great shakes. But there are things about this really old pic of mine that I do like. The pink/fuchsia color, for one, and that sort of floating effect of the blossoms that the editing I did of it (way back when) produced. And that's about it. I'm a bit bushed right now. Spent lots of time at this computer today. Mostly at uninteresting work (like my Will and some internet research on other stuff). Then came to do my daily posts and found I'm a bit worn out. (Another indication of getting even older. Sigh.) Otherwise I'd keep looking for some other pic, or even produce one to post today. But this one'll have to do. BTW, here's a link to info on the pic title (which association I did think of when choosing it as this photo's title): "The Floating World"
