ANOTHER FALL

"Another Fall" (10-4-14 020v2) is one of those I stumbled across during my archiving/deleting project the other day. I worked a bit on it then, and just now did some more. You might want to click on the image to see the details as I did a lot of fussing to bring out the various textures. Of course, now that I've been staring consistently at this pic readying it for posting and then posting it, I see aspects I have trouble with. Ack. Well, ain't that just the truth of it. Nuttin's poifect!

THINGS ARE LOOKING UP

"Things Are Looking Up" (9-24-14 011v2) was just "finished" now, from an old version of an even older pic. One of those I'd had sitting around awaiting an inspiration as to how to fix it. Well, when I saw it again today I realized it's fine the way it is. So all I did was a little work on the texture, and crop it ever so slightly to get those several triangular shapes more into balance.

FALL HANGS IN; & AUTUMN ON HER MIND

I've probably said this here in years past, but if I had to choose a favorite season it would be autumn. "Fall Hangs In" (10-20-16 004v2) was taken yesterday and just now fixed up (cropping and a wee bit of color adjustment, which is very little given what I often must, or wish to do to a pic). As usual, I remembered late in the changing leaf season to go around behind this building on our grounds to see what sorts of pix I could get. But, also as usual, I was fortunate and got some interesting shots, despite having to shoot with the low in the sky sun almost right in my camera. That actually produced a couple of the more satisfying shots, as I managed to position myself so that the sun was behind leaves and branches, with its light only radiating a bit as opposed to glaring. Here's one of those shots (fudged with a lot to get the contrasts right, colors bright enough, and the texture crisp.) It's called "Autumn on Her Mind" (10-20-16 001v2):

SKIRTED BY THE STORM

"Skirted by the Storm" (10-19-16 005v2) was just taken yesterday and fussed with a little bit this morning. I don't think I've ever seen the high tide so high or so active. I'm assuming it's because a rain storm passed us by, but agitated the ocean. (Maybe someday I'll look into how one gets a straight edged, far distant ocean horizon in a pic. [This one looks even more rounded in the original, wider crop.] I.e., is it an impossibility? Or would a different sort of camera compensate? Yet, some shots I take from this view don't "bend" at all. Is it determined by what height and angle at which I'm holding the camera? I've also noted the "rounding" tends to appear more often when I shoot in the direction this shot was taken [to the left], or off in the other direction [to the right]. Straight ahead? Not so much.)

WICKED SISTERS

"Wicked Sisters" (4-15-14 003v2) was fixed up recently from an old crop of an even older pic. There's something rather devilish about the look of these two blooms, which fits nicely with it being Halloween season.

MARSHALING THE FORCES

"Marshaling the Forces" (10-15-16 003v3) is one of those I've (obviously) fussed with endlessly. It kept coming close to something I could really like, then, nope, that wasn't it at all! I kinda, sorta gave up at this version. I do like the urgent motion I see in it. And it does have a vaguely "marshal" feel to it, as if the troops are being mustered for action. (A previous title was "Swords at the Ready.") Mostly, though, I have a couple of visual balance problems with it. Oh well, nothing's perfect. BTW, try clicking on the pic to see the details if you're so inclined.

MOUNTAIN SUNRISE

"Mountain Sunrise" (10-15-16 020v3) was just morphed yesterday from a brand new pic of (believe it or not) the ocean. I clearly did lots of fussing and I must say had a great time doing so. What a blessing to have even the brief relief of this sort of activity in my life at this difficult time. I hasten to add that it's always wonderful to work on pix (and poems), just that at certain times it's even more so.
