HOT MESS

"Hot Mess" (6-4-11 11066v3) was just made from an old pic I rediscovered in my archiving/deleting project. All I did to it was crop it, saturate the colors a bit, and then sharpen it a smidgen. It's really a total indulgence as I'm fairly certain not many other folk like looking at such a tumult. But I do, both in this pic and live. Unfortunately, I've not seen this stand of cannas get this tall and full since this pic was taken four years ago. Of course, we're in the fourth year of a drought and that may very well be why. (BTW, this crop of the pic doesn't show the entire stand or its full height. To do so would mean leaving in a lot of very distracting background -- building/windows and palms at "wrong" angles, a too bright sky, and so on.)

NIGHT BLOOMERS

"Night Bloomers" (5-16-11 10977v4) was just morphed today from a pic I re-discovered in my on-going archiving/deleting project. It's one of those that definitely looks better in a larger version, so I hope you'll feel like clicking on it for a decent "look see" at the details.

AFTER THE FLOOD

"After the Flood" (5-24-15 013v4) was morphed from a new photo. I just "finished" it today by doing a wee bit of painting out of distractions in the upper corners. I think I was drawn to it due to its sort of watery aspect. We actually had some rain yesterday! Not only did the plants get watered, but a friend says her car got a much needed wash. Smile. (BTW, you can better see the watery effect by clicking on the pic for a larger version.)

GRACEFUL EXIT

"Graceful Exit" (5-24-15 005v2) is a very new pic, just tweaked a wee bit this morning (tiny bit of painting out, and even smaller amount of sharpening and color saturation). I think I recall cropping it around the edges when I first saw it on my screen the day I'd taken it. So that's it, and this lack of intensive fussing makes it rather unusual in my slew of pix. But what draws me to it (and other shots I took of this dying fiddle head fern branch) is that it offers a sadly graceful testimony to the on-going drought here in California.

NUDES ON A BEACH

"Nudes on a Beach" (5-27-15 017v8) was just morphed today from a photo in my newest folder of pix. You'd think I'd go for realism first in a folder of newness, but as frequently happens I got bewitched by certain shapes in this one. Then once I started fudging with them they took me to this strange place. Then again, maybe not all that strange. As I sometimes do, I felt I as if I were chasing after an image memory. So the results may be echoing some famous art work I'm not really recalling. Yeah, so "Nudes on a Beach" might be derivative. If so, then so be it. It still pleases me.

SHADOW JUNTA

"Shadow Junta" (4-25-11 10768ea) was just morphed this morning from an old pic. Another of those for which I have many versions. Those curving long stamens, and the shapes and lines of the shadows tickle my interest endlessly.

FROM THE INSIDE OUT

"From the Inside Out" (8-5-09 5009v4) was just morphed today from one of my oldest pix. Nothing much else to say about it. Except that I liked it a lot more when it first popped up on my screen. When I go fishing for a new pic to post, it doesn't always make it all the way up and out. Sometimes (fairly often, actually) it gets stuck in between, like this one. But there is still something in it that pleases my eye so I'm posting it anyway.
