Diving for Seed Pearls (above) is a revision I just made yesterday of a photo I took this spring. I keep imagining that anyone who stumbles across this blog familiar with digital photo editing will immediately recognize my fondness (over-use?) of inverting the colors in a picture. So be it. I like the change in depth and emphasis it creates, and I usually change the colors even more. In this case, the above is straight inversion of the colors (with some very minor brightening).

I also really like the original (it's one I've used in a greeting card design and posted here previously) The Jewel in the Lotus, posted below to illustrate what inverting (as I tend to call it, reversing) the colors does:

And last today, The Seeding of a Solar System, below, was taken of a rose on the same bush as in "Diving for Seed Pearls." Another picture for which I inverted the colors. But in this one I did a great deal of color manipulation even after that to arrive at a result I felt good about:

I just snapped Summer Sunset (above) the day before yesterday. A friend and I were sitting after dinner on the bench we often stop at, looking right at this. I took a chance that the sun was far enough below the building not to "white out" most of the picture. As I picked it to post to day I realized it offers a nice, shall I say, visual palette cleansing from all the hyper-active ones I've been posting the past few days. It's also of one of my favorite things to photograph on these grounds, the architectural lines and shadows. These buildings and their outside staircases are also an interesting composition challenge, given all the angles and heights/depths involved.

But, as is my wont recently, I could not resist fooling with one of the others from that same batch of pictures, Winter Sunrise (below):

The Launching, above, is yet again an old photo just re-worked now. Yeah, I seem to be stuck on the busy end of the visual, but at least this one's colors have moved away from my somewhat habitual blues and purples. I like it's overall look and wish I could get this sort of water color painting effect more often. But I only seem able to get the effect occasionally; sometimes it just doesn't "show up" no matter I do exactly what's worked with other pictures. (BTW, I don't have Photoshop; I use a combination of other various less sophisticated programs to do my editing. Even if I could afford it, my poor dinosaur of a computer couldn't handle it. So, someday I may join the Photoshop generation, just not yet.)

And here below is Pointing the Way, a two-year old crop of this same photo. You can see part of this photo's focal point in the upper right of "The Launching":

Heat Seeking Missiles is an over two year old photo that I just fooled around with this morning. Not sure I'm content with this version but I'll leave it be as it's the third crop and coloring I just tried. I still think there's something in there I've yet to bring out. Maybe I'll come back to it at another time.
