A UNIVERSE OF ROSES

"A Universe of Roses" (11-29-09 8390v5) was just now morphed from one of my oldest pix. I like it and I don't. It seems rather unoriginal (at least for me and the things I've been trying) but I like the colors a lot and the shapes. I especially like that suggestion of roses out in a universe, not just against the night. Of course, that's probably just my peculiar way of associating to images (coming out of all my years of dream work). But it's there nevertheless for me. So, here's the pic!

FAIRY SIGHTING

"Fairy Sighting" (9-22-15 028v5a) was just morphed from an earlier version of an even older pic. What can I say? I'm in a somewhat lighter mood than I've been in for days, even as I recognize it's much like sighting a fairy: bound to be a brief experience. But I can still enjoy it, as what about life does last? As to the pic itself, it's one of those I liked more when it first popped on my screen after the last edit I did on it. I'd say I most enjoy that bright wing-like effect at the center.

CAN YOU HEAR THE SINGING?

"Can You Hear the Singing?" (10-7-15 005v2) is an old pic I just worked on a bit this morning (cropping, fussing with diffuse filter, sharpening, and color saturation, and a wee bit of painting out of distracting spots). If anyone were to stand right next to me as I spy ferns doing this sort of thing, they'd hear singing ... but it would be mine (smile).

INTERSECTIONS

The source pic for "Intersections" (2-16-16 014v2) is several months old (though I just fussed this version out of it this morning). I've been taking pix of this building across the road from the retirement community I live in since it's beginning as a hole in the ground. But the vast majority are taken from way further down to the left of this shot's vantage point. Of course, the building has progressed a lot (if very slowly it seems) since this pic. It now has walls and windows but still looks very unfinished. My dinner table mates and I watch it's progress from a window right by our table and are intrigued by how many layers of color have gone up on its walls. Salmon, yellow, salmon again, and what looks like paper with the word "Tyvek" on it ... seems the building will be well insulated (smile). OK, I just googled Tyvec and it's a synthetic material used to protect buildings during construction. Anyway, I like this earlier shot largely because of the contrast between those foreground plants reaching straight up, and the building and crane and street light reaching up behind.

ANCESTRAL MEMORY

"Ancestral Memory" (7-18-16 007v2a) has appeared here in a full color version. I just have such fun fooling around with all these shapes and shadows to see what else can be suggested or brought out.

A MAN & HIS TOYS

"A Man & His Toys" (8-1-16 003v2) was taken yesterday at The Harbor in Santa Barbara (after a wonderful meal in the Endless Summer restaurant) and fixed up a wee bit this morning. That man on the bench is a dear friend of mine, who loves the ocean and sailing. I post this pic as a thank you to him for the afternoon.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS

"Decisions, Decisions" (11-24-15 051v5) has been hanging fire, ready to post for some time now. Glad I stumbled across it while looking for a different pic I'd scribbled down a note about. Pix of these staircases and environs are always fun to take; all those lines and shadows. They're also difficult (at least for me) to get decent shots of, though I haven't tried any in some time. One can hope that my eye and skills have developed at least a wee bit since (smile). My issue with this one? Does that large blank white wall work or is it distracting? I go back and forth on that. Though mostly I'm fine with it.
