SWEEPING UP THE LIGHT; & SWEEPING UP THE NIGHT

"Sweeping Up the Light" (8-9-14 015v2), above, is another new pic that I pretty much feel content with. And below is another version that I may like a bit more, from the same original new pic, "Sweeping Up the Night" (8-9-14 015v6):

THE VASE; & SEEKING THE LIGHT

At last! A couple new pix with which I'm happy. The above is "The Vase" (8-7-14 001v3).  I really don't know if I prefer it or the below pic, "Seeking the Light" (8-7-14 001v2):

Both pix deeply tickle that fondness I have for fern patterns. "The Vase" might have a slight edge. I keep seeing a vague resemblance to an antique vase (like those made by Tiffany).

HEAD OVER HEELS; & DRAGONFLY

"Head Over Heels" (9-10-09 6727v5) above, and "Dragonfly" (9-10-09 6727v4) below, are from the same very old original pic.

I particularly like "Head Over Heels," probably not only for the shapes but for those colors. The color combo is one I rarely stumble across when it fits the pic and it does here. Giving (at least to my eye) an almost dimensional or reflective look to some of the shapes. Again, I did a lot of searching through folders, and editing, before settling on these two for today. I don't know if I've mentioned this here before, but I think part of my general dissatisfaction with both my pix and poems may stem from a sense that a big change in both is afoot. Certainly a desire for a big change. And maybe it will be more a matter of a lot of little changes (and I have been noticing a couple) ultimately amounting to a larger one.

CENTRICAL

Posting "Centrical" (2-15-10 19803e) today is more of a self indulgence even than usual. I've posted it not only here some time ago, but on my dreams & poetry blog as well. I just love looking at the various patterns ferns make, especially the large fiddle head fern bushes (trees?) like this one. I suppose I could justify this particular re-post as I did do a wee bit of tweaking today. I'm constantly surprised at the little things I see in a photo even years after living with it that need fixing. Though maybe I shouldn't be as a I have decades more experience of the same thing happening with my poems. In any case, I'm really posting it just because I like it and it gives me pleasure to do so.

LAST BOW

"Last Bow" (7-28-09 4466v2) was just fussed out of one of my oldest pix today. It was taken when I was still able to go for long photography walks. I'd come home with as many as a hundred (and more) pix on my chip. Better leave it at that before I get even more sentimental. (Complaint alert! This photo, due to having that blacked out background, has some of that difference in appearance I've noted here before. I.e., that background is not a totally solid black when viewed in different light or even angle of view of the screen or program in which I view it. And I'm just not up to doing even more work -- which now would involve "painting" over the entire background. Maybe another day.)

SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED

Yup, "Shaken, Not Stirred" (5-13-10 10015ev8) is one of many versions I have of this old pic. I tried editing many other pix in several other folders, all to no effect I liked. Then was relieved to find this one I'd not yet posted that was ready to go. I have a minor issue with it, but basically like it. Which is, of course, why I have so many versions of it. Several posted here months ago. It also looks good upside down. (One of those versions is in "gold" on a black back ground and I call it "Chandelier." You can search by that title to see it if you're interested. I'm too bleary eyed after all that unproductive editing, and rushed, to put up a link to it right now.)

OFFERING

"Offering" (4-15-14 037v4) is another version of a pic I took this spring. I like how the black and white brings out the contrasts in the St. Francis bird feeder and the irises. But I had to do more "cleaning up" of the background as that was rather schmutzy even in the color version. The last thing it needed was more contrast. Yeah, there are other ways to drop out problematic areas than to painstakingly "paint" over them. But I've not yet challenged my aging brain to learn about that in Photoshop. Someday. Just not today. Today I'll simply gratefully accept the givens of my skills and the limits of my vision.
