THUNDERBIRD

Thunderbird (5-10-10) is at least the sixth version (some kept, some deleted) I've made from its old original picture. Another of those endlessly intriguing flower centers I keep coming back to over the now almost four years I've been taking pix. By the way, I did not distort those shapes and curves. I just changed its colors, turned it 90 degrees to the right, and outlined the edges of the shapes (using several layers of filters, such as inverting, plastic wrap, re-inverting, and poster edges). The more I layer Photoshop filters the more fun I have diving into the possibilities. Maybe someday I'll come up for air and learn some of the other functions Photoshop offers.

I've posted the original for Thunderbird before, but here it is again for comparison's sake below, "Fractious." Technically "Fractious" is not the original. But I no longer even have the full picture I took, i.e. un-cropped and in the totally natural colors. I hadn't yet realized how one's vision for a photo can change as time passes, and in my case for sure, one's editing skills and available programs. --

RESERVOIR; & MORAINE LAKE

Reservoir (6-30-11) above, is a brand new version of an old photo, as is Moraine Lake (6-30-11) below. For some reason I've been seeing mountain views in the non-representational versions I'm producing recently. E.g., in both of these, I see mountains rising around the bodies of water.

AUTUMN IN THE MOUNTAINS

Again, the original for Autumn in the Mountains (10-1-11) is from that same old folder of pix I've been working in a lot recently. What's odd is although the flowers (which is what they mostly are) draw me I wind up not being happy until they become something entirely other. Though "happy" is a relative term. I see something in them that pleases me but also lots to pick at. Ah well, at least I really like the memory these colors today call up for me of childhood autumns "back East" in New York.

DANCES WITH MOUNTAINS

Dances With Mountains (8-27-09) is a new version of a very old photo. One of those that I'm afraid "only a mother could love." I look at it and both really enjoy it and hear all sorts of criticisms going off in my mind. The fun of it has won out, at least long enough to post it.

GOING NOVA; & PANGAEA

The two photos posted today are from the same two-year old original. The one above is Going Nova (10-1-11). The one below is Pangaea(10-1-11). And I have three other versions of the same rose center, all in the same crop and blue/purple shades but differently "textured." I'll probably post those some other day. I feel like the character Ado Annie in the musical Oklahoma, I just "cain't say no" to an intriguing flower center.
