A TASTE OF THE LIGHT

"A Taste of the Light" (11-6-14 003va[3]) is a very old pic version of mine. I fussed at it a lot this morning (and it was only the last of many I'd fussed over first), and am still not all that pleased with it. Though, as usual when I say that, there is that about it that I like. But I still have to say that my hunger for something missing in my pix and poems these days is going very unsatisfied. I do begin to wonder if I'll ever find it again. It's always been elusive (and rarely more than partial) in all the decades I've been chasing poems and visual art. But (as I have probably said here before) maybe satisfaction's not the point ... the journey itself may be what counts. At least so far (though doubts have been abounding for some time now) I'm hanging in and journeying on, more and more hobbled by physical and emotional issues. Hungering as I chase after yet another pic or poem.

ALLIGATOR MOUNTAIN

"Alligator Mountain" (10-15-16 020v4c[2]) is an old pic of mine, just now slightly fudged with (lightened the darkest shadows a wee bit, and adjusted the contrast). It (and other versions I have of it) put me in mind of driving up into the mountains above Santa Barbara and Goleta. Though the untouched original is actually a beach/sea view. BTW, this is a pic that is best viewed in a larger version in order to see the details, so just click on the image if you're so inclined.

LINING UP

"Lining Up" (9-11-13 007[5]) was just fudged out of an old pic of mine. I have several other versions I also worked on this morning, as well as shots taken at different angles. I'm still not settled on this version but it does come closest to what seems to be tickling at my visual imagination. (And I do like the sort of oil pastel look to this one.) Sorry to say it yet again here, but I really miss my old Photoshop 11 editing program. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I keep saying I'm going to set my nose to the grindstone and learn either GIMP or an even older Photoshop 6 program I have on my 'puter. I could also try using Sumopaint again (one can use it online, as I did years back). But I just haven't had the energy and patience together in the same place to make any sort of extended effort with these other programs. (And stop trying to make do with Windows 10's very limited Photos program.) Ah well, maybe as spring advances so will my get up and git!

QUANTUM LEAPS

"Quantum Leaps" (9-11-13 007v7a) is another very old pic. I didn't fuss at it at all. I'm unusually content to let it be. It's just as well, since it's been so fudged with and cropped already that it would probably go quite wonky on me if I tried to do anything to it. :-) And even though I've lost the original shot somewhere along the way (something I rarely let happen), I can remember exactly where I took it. That's one of the side effects of having pix going back 10 years: they frequently tickle and perk up my aging memory.
