SHADOWS OF A MEMORY

"Shadows of a Memory" is about a year and a half old. I don't think it's any great shakes (too many little problems to even bother listing here). So I'm only posting it for it's inspirational value to me. I haven't been able to make the longer walk to this beach overlook park (Pescadero Park) in probably six months. But I've not given up on getting there regularly again. In fact, just the day before yesterday on a walk into Isla Vista (not as far as this park, but a good walk in itself) I came back via a slightly longer route and realized I'm probably ready to make the walk to this overlook. My intent, therefore, is to head for this park tomorrow. And this pic sort of seals that deal, if you will. :-)

CELEBRATING SOLSTICE

"Celebrating Solstice" (1-30-17 015v5b) was just morphed from an early version of a year and a half old pic of mine. It's one of those pix that, as I edited it, kept popping up on my screen and briefly making me happy, but quickly revealing problems or things I just didn't like about it. As it stands now, I really like the color combo and (maybe) the way those aqua/yellow shapes "move." I think I need to start taking pix again (as opposed to working on old ones) if I'm going to feel inspired and satisfied. That's not to say I'm not presently enjoying the editing process. I most certainly have been. It's just that the results recently aren't often worth much more than a hefty "meh."

DANCE FOR THE WIND

"Dance for the Wind" (6-1-10 10009v2) was just re-worked from an old version of a very old pic of mine. Please forgive my self-indulgence in posting another canna leaves photo. Even more than usual (especially given the dreams I had last night) I welcome how they lift my spirits. As to what I did to this newer version? Lots of diffusion (that's what brings out the curving and curling) and heavy color saturation. I also fixed some distracting imbalance of color that came in once I did the saturating. (Had to take down the brightness of some pink/fuchsia that showed up, and so on.) And I used the delightful lasso function to get rid of some small distracting spots. What a blessing that function has turned out to be. I've even found ways to use the lasso in working on abstract pix, changing swaths of color and texture in the size and shape I introduce using the lasso.
