YES, THERE ONCE WAS A FLOWER

"Yes, There Once Was A Flower" (5-2-10 10036ev2) was just morphed from (as so often) an old version of a very old pic. Nothing much else to say about it, as it's clearly been heavily fudged with in Photoshop. I like the original, unfussed with pic quite a bit, but it was just too cheery for my mood to handle today. And I kept seeing all the shadows and shapes just begging to be brought out and exaggerated ... which, of course, meant I was off and running ... er... editing ... I never run anywhere, not this old lady. Hm, OK, here below is the version that underlies the above pic (5-2-10 10036e):

FENCE SITTERS

"Fence Sitters" (8-10-16 022v2) was taken last August on one of my first long walks to the ocean (I'd only begun walking off our grounds in July and had been building up slowly to longer treks like to the ocean). It's been sitting on the fence, if you will, in its folder since then. I've had a devil of a time finding and/or working on a photo today that I could feel at least OK about posting. So I was rather relieved to run into it, pretty much ready to post and not too awful (even with a couple of little problems I'm just going to ignore for now ... LOL).

JACARANDA JOY

"Jacaranda Joy" (5-18-17 008v2a) ... not a very original title but I'm more interested at this point in getting it posted. What a delight to see these trees blossom. The shots I took of this one were tough ones: mid-day sun (could you tell, with all that white "dusting"?)... but at least the sun was to my back. Then, the color lavender is difficult in all sorts of things, not only photos (wall paint, for instance, or underwear: it always goes grey really fast). In one of the other pix I took of this tree today the blossoms came out much more to the blue end of the spectrum. Even in this one to get a good lavender was quite a challenge and I haven't fully succeeded. But it was still fun, always is, no matter how a pic turns out.

SLIP KNOT

"Slip Knot" (5-16-16 011v3) was just morphed yesterday from a photo taken a few hours earlier. This is that fave willow I often sit on my walker under for a rest stop and/or to draft poems and/or to take pix. I particularly like the vaguely dark mood of this pic. Which came to the fore when I inverted the b&w version so there was more black in it than white. It's cool in full color, too, but not quite as intriguing, IMHO.

THE DISPLAY

"The Display" (7-09-09 3581ev2) was just fudged out of a very old version of one of my oldest pix. And, yes, if you're seeing any resemblance to the sorts of images folk often see in Georgia O'Keeffe's large, open blossom paintings, I do intend that in this pic. Of course, I make no claim to any artistry, just to having fun and doing my best to produce a "not too awful" pic. BTW, as I've said here before, I rarely start working with a pic with a particular aim. An aim or focus usually comes along only as I see what develops with any changes I intuitively make at the start.

ABOVE & BELOW

Don't know why "Above & Below" (5-14-17 007v2) tickles me, but having that palm shadow and the wonderful old eucalyptus in the same shot do. This is a brand new pic, just taken two days ago on my first long walk in two weeks. I often sit on that corner and watch the Isla Vista wild life (so to speak) go by. It was heaven to be there again.

GIVING LIP TO THE LIGHT

I've had "Giving Lip to the Light" (4-3-17 038v2) around for a little while. It's only slightly fudged from the original (cropping and a wee bit of contrast work). I have a couple of little doubts about it but whenever I go through the folder of pix it's in, it jumps out at me, begging to be posted. :-) So, here 'tis.
