NIGHT TALK

"Night Talk" (4-3-17 008v2a) was morphed a few days ago from a newish pic, and then just now fussed with (a bit of minor color adjustment). This is the willow I often sit under on my long walks. BTW!! I went on my first long walk in two weeks earlier today. My toe's finally healed enough, and I promised -- and managed to keep that promise -- not to push even if I wanted to (which of course I did want to). And one of my rest stops (which I took more of than usual, two weeks without long walks made them necessary) was beneath this willow. Yessss!!

THE KISS

"The Kiss" (3-14-17 018v2) was just fussed into shape today from a month old pic. What else to say about it. It was clearly (if that isn't a contradiction in terms :-D) foggy and post-rain. I have a full color version, but this b&w better conveys the feeling I had standing looking down at the ocean. Funny thing is, I'd only vaguely noted that couple on the stair landing and was surprised how I felt prompted to make them central to the pic once I was cropping it on my computer screen. I have no idea if they actually eventually kissed, as I went on framing and snapping other pix right after this one. But it certainly looks as if they might have.

THE MASK SLIPS

"The Mask Slips" (3-14-17 009v3c) was just morphed from an already heavily fudged with version of a month old pic. My theme for today seems to be hidden things; my dream poem dealt with it, too. Some hiding being very positive, as in victims/targets seeking safety, and some being dangerous/deceptive "bearding"/masking as aggressors do. But to this pic: clearly a massive amount of editing was done. I rarely just follow my nose, making edits at random with no sense of what I might want to have happen. But during a large part of this one's evolution I just kept randomly applying different Photoshop processes and letting them accrue as they would. Then when a result popped on my screen that I found I actually liked, I blurred it all! Just for the fun of it! But then I was off and running even further with my usual more deliberate application of editing functions. BTW, to see the poem/pic for today on hiddenness, click here.

STANDING TALL

"Standing Tall" (4-18-10 10017e) is a very old pic, just slightly fussed with today (little bit of cropping and color work). Interesting I'd be drawn to it, given it's of the heart of the retirement community grounds where I live. And I haven't been able to get off the grounds on my long walks for 10 days (that toe is healing, but it's a slow process). So, here I am appreciating what has been my favorite view on these grounds since moving here 9 years ago. And I get to see it every day, in various lights and weather. I'm glad to have been reminded as I wrestle with feeling a bit trapped, that there's stuff to appreciate around here, right where I am, every day. BTW, I have a little issue with the pic's composition. That chimney may need to be a bit more to the left. But if I crop anymore off the left, I have to crop more from bottom and/or top, and that doesn't work at all. So I'm leaving it as is.

THE CRY IN THE NIGHT

"The Cry in the Night" (5-1-13 12677v2a) was just fudged from (as ever) a really old version of an even older original pic. I posted that earlier version here a long time ago. It's a gorgeous purple with light purple highlights on the same black background. I wanted to see how a change in coloring would effect the impact of these petal shapes and shadows. And moving from the purple, into the fuchsia/pink/coral range took it from gorgeous with no particular emotional impact, to a feeling of (shall I say "feminine") loneliness. Of course, that's my projection onto this coloration of the pic at this time in my life. Who knows how I differently I may see it down the road. (I certainly hope I see it differently! :-D)

THROUGH THE LENS OF HER DREAMS

"Through the Lens of Her Dreams" (5-10-13 12744v2ga) was just now morphed from a version I created yesterday (are you ready? :-D) from an old version of an even older original pic. Layer on layer on layer. (And I'm not even referencing the layering function in Photoshop, BTW, as I've not yet felt the need to learn how to use it!) Including that "Blocks" option under the "Glass" filter I've been threatening to use more. Actually I have been using it, but much less obviously than in this pic. Anyway, as always, I'm grateful for my dreamworld. For how dreams play with and bring new meanings to my day time world ... which is quite a misery right now. Not to mention, how the dream world has a life all its own, very different from my beleaguered day world. I hasten to add that I'm in the middle of a very bad PMS (Pre-Moon Syndrome) episode, which means everything is exaggerated. Once the moon is completely full, I'll start to feel a bit better. In the meantime, night time dreams ride to my rescue. No matter what they'e about, they're a whole 'nother playground. Ooops! One more thing, click on this pic if you'd like to see the details.

THE REVEAL

"The Reveal" (5-10-13 12753v2a) was just fussed from a very old pic. It's in a folder which, as is often my wont, I've gotten stuck in (:-D) and keep working on it's pix. I'm always tempted to believe "getting stuck" is due to the pix touching on some unconscious memories of the time in which they were taken. In this case, that would be exactly four years ago. Can't recall anything specific about that time, but it's still a good guess as the pix are so evocative. But back to this pic: it was heavily cropped from a much larger one, diffused and sharpened, with a lot of color work done to bring out the subtle "under-colors" a bit, and then a struggle to get the contrasts "right." At this point it feels a wee bit over-worked, however I still like it. Except for a slight haziness (which I hasten to add may be my cataracts, which seem to have advanced quite a bit recently).
