FOREST OF YEARNING

"Forest of Yearning" (10-3-11 11324v15g), same story as usual, old pic, new version, only one among several I morphed today ... though it is the one I like the most. I'm having a bit of fun allowing myself to like a "messier" look in a morph once in a while. Yeah, boredom can goad us into appreciating stuff we might not otherwise.

CIRCLING DOWN THE AGES

"Circling Down the Ages" (12-3-15 007v5d1) is from one of those pix that keeps prompting new versions. And that's about all I can say about it, except that this newest morphing reflects my recent increased focus on the past. Via research on ancestry.com, and submitting my DNA sample for analysis. Also, reading a book "Hauntings: Dispelling the Ghosts the Run Our Live," by James Hollis. When I opened the folder that has this photo's source pic today and saw that circling I immediately thought of humanity's ancestors, surrounding the globe, as if trying to get back into life.

HAILING THE DAY MOON

"Hailing the Day Moon" (2-20-16 001v5) was just fudged with today, from a very new pic. A shot I can never resist trying to get when I see it over our buildings, despite neither my camera nor my skills being sophisticated enough. There are other interfering factors to a good shot even when I try including more of the surrounds. Those buildings I mentioned, for one, angle every which way and/or take over. But I kinda, sorta, like this close crop, and the water color effect I ultimately tortured out of it. (Re: Repeat attempts to get a pic I know from experience that there's next to no chance I will? Hey, and this has happened, not often at all to be true, but it does: Sometimes you just luck out.)

CAVERN OF THE LOST

"Cavern of the Lost" (12-8-15 002v3n) was just now morphed and is one of those I can't be even my usually minimally objective about. It was too heavily determined by my mood today. I will only say I really like the color combo and the shapes, and leave it at that. As the longer I look at any of my pix today (and I've looked at way too many), the more deeply lost in criticism I become.

GENEROSITY

"Generosity" (4-15-14 037v5) is an old version of an even older pic that I further fudged with today. Yep, still not taking a whole lot of new pix. And not all that interested in fooling around with those that I do. Not sure why my new pix -- for the most part -- just aren't calling to me. (Maybe once they've brewed a bit. Smile.) Anyway, this figurine often catches my attention and I have many pix of it. I took this one from this particular angle because I liked how those irises appeared to rest on the figure's shoulder. (I was recently told [not about this pic] by a trained photographer, that a figure or motion should not point close to an edge out of a photo. Well, first of all I think rules are made to be broken, with artful care, of course. Second, in this case I think those irises balance any imbalance the figure's gaze so close to/out of the frame might create. That same photog also shared other "rules," such as the one of "thirds." Well, I was well aware of that one; it just feels right. However, I've also broken that rule and, in my untrained opinion, find going against it can make for a strong photo. If thoughtfully done. Smile, you've just witnessed some of what a full moon's advent does to my mood. Even more stubborn than usual.)

WAKING TO WINTER

"Waking to Winter" (12-8-15 002v6) is from a fairly recent pic (only months old). I'm quite content with this one and another version of it I morphed this morning. A more than usually nice feeling given the complaining I did here yesterday about how bored I've been with the pix I'm producing these days. I will admit, though, there's nothing particularly new about the way I worked with this pic or the results. It may very well be what's pleasing is just that it's pleasing ... I have no complaints or little things to pick at about it (smile). (Click here if you'd like to see the other version.)

IN A HAWK'S EYE

The things that I like about "In A Hawk's Eye" (12-8-15 002v3k) are what I could also dislike about it. Which is precisely why I'm enjoying posting it today. I'm getting bored with what I produce. And also with the worry about what others might think (but only once posting becomes a consideration). So boredom is pushing me to rebel. In effect saying "So what?" No matter who sees (or doesn't see) my posts, I cannot let that worry influence selection. It's then only a short slip into it influencing what I actually produce. And I sure as blazes don't want that. Therefore, I'm posting one that half of me is screaming at me not to post. While the other half is doing a gleeful little dance that I am.
